I think that was Falwell..... and Robertson sat there and nodded in agreement like an idiot.
I still think both men are right on a lot of issues.
And I think they backed off some of these comments when challenged.
One good turn, eh?
OH yeah, that's the best part. We can turn out our base in such large numbers. I was just saying that our base is more than only religious people.
He did acknowledge it was a joint effort.
But his point that the faith block is the most powerful constituency when united and activated would hold true. It united Protestants/Evangelicals/Amish/Catholics & Jews. It transcends Party and if the Dems keep alientating this base (Minority Catholics & Protestants as well as Orthodox Jews), they will lose them to the Republican party permanently in greater majorities than even witnessed in this election.
I do think connection on issues of faith is the best way to overcome the inherent prejudices against conservatives. Constitutionalists and fiscal conservatives can be found among this typically conservative Democrat base, the difficulty lies in bypassing years of propaganda that paints Republicans as something akin to the anti-Christ. If we want to bridge the gap in these minority groups and the catholic block, this is the avenue of shared understanding that can be a bridge used to relate our common ground on economics and conservative policy.
I'm the risen Christ, not Jesus...I'm not actually bound by his views, laws, or behaviors... ;)
I love good, moral and decent people, these two are none of the afore mentioned. They are egotistic idots. Any thing to get their name in the media.
you know, i'm not an evangelical christian. But i'm glad i got jerry falwell with me in this brawl, watching my back.
I'd like to believe this...but I'm skeptical. Many of these are CINO.
On election night someone on Fox said 28 million evangelical Christians voted, and roughly 3/4 of those voted for Bush. I don't know where they got those figures, hopefully not from the bogus exit polls
If those numbers are even close to correct it would mean approximately 21 million Bush votes came from evangelicals, or about 1/3 of all Bush votes. When you add in the millions of votes from faithful practicing Catholics who believe essentially the same as evangelicals on moral issues, then add perhaps a few million votes from those mainline protestants who still believe in Christian moral standards, I think it's quite possible that as much as 2/3 of Bush's vote total came from the overall Christian community.
In light of those numbers, one would think that the old guard country club Repubs would be attentive to our concerns when judicial appointments are being considered, and when legislation concerning moral/social/cultural issues is being drawn up. I have thought that same way before and was disappointed. But this time the political pros realize how much influence we had on the outcome, and I think our agenda will be harder to ignore.
They are still claiming they have the youth vote if it would only come out. They are claiming everything except the truth: a rejection of Liberalism and its commie-loving gigolo flag bearer.
I am a Catholic and I admire both Falwel and Robertson because they say what should and must be said (even though they are marginalized in the media for doing it) when a lot of priests cower behind the altar afraid of "offending" someone and driving away their congregations. What the priests miss is the fact that with their "tolerance" they have driven away massive numbers instead of attracting new members.
my father was drafted into ww2 against his will, because he had a pregnant wife, and served in 28th infantry division in a recon company as a medic...he never saw any difference between faithful believers and atheists...dead men are just dead...having said that, while priests may cower behind the papal word, that is far better than fat and happy pompous protestants with no regard to be pretending to secure glory and victory for themselves where no evidence exists...and that is just what Falwell has done in this news release...and as he thinks it is safe to go toot his own horn, he undermines our true and honest President through his usurpation of tangible support...he tries to build once again his inportance through the efforts of others...I completely reject him and wish laryngitis at least on this vile self-important creature, and death if needs be
