Russert gets his talking points from the DNC. How can we do SS reform with a deficit. Tim, how can we not?

I really appreciate the early heads up on Frist's "not yet" comment. I like that he is not convinced of Spector's loyalty. But....

But really, I don't think there's any doubt the Republicans on the Judiciary Committee will let Spector chair the committee. Frist is much like Spector in his ability to talk the talk, but I"m not holding my breath.

I think Spector will chair, and I think republicans will live to regret it. He's a self-serving horse's ass. He blathers away even more than Hatch, who was more often than not out-smarted by the scorched earth democrats on that committee. I hope I'm wrong.

The main thing I have heard, oft repeated, was that he was part of the waitress sandwich with Teddy K.

Re: Carvile.

I was listening a week or so ago to Mary Matalin when she was on Laura Ingraham's radio show.

Mary said some interesting things about James, that I had never heard before.

He has ADHD, he loves to gamble (Mary said "Viva Las Vegas!") and when Laura said something about sending him a book or something, Mary said, just send him some Maker's Mark (bourbon)!

That would explain some of his wild behavior I suppose.

He won't shout over his wife. She is probably the only person on Planet Earth accorded this level of respect by Ol' Serpent Head.

MTP

Watching the clip of Arafat, 1976, he says not terrorism but military operations (when they attack Israelis).

Israel in 1976 should have considered military operations by a foreign government against Israel an act of war and wiped them out then. That would have cut down 28 years of suicide bombings.

Arafat is known as the Father of Modern Terrorism. Even this morning, an FR post headlined that Arafat's success at terrorism encouraged OBL to use terrorism as his tactic.

Yup. Dodd was the heel of a white bread loaf on one side, and Tedward was the sourdough heel on the other.

Senate Republicans do not have the guts to even try to deny Specter his chairmanship. They pay far more attention to the Washington Post than they do to the people who vote for them and work their asses off volunteering for them.

I wouldn't be surprised if, in a show of "bi-partisan unity" they let Leahy chair the committee!

I half expected Chevy Chase to come on, and Garret to start doing his "hearing impaired" translation.

Greg Palcott on FoxNews phone report from Fallujah:

quiet nite

still allot of work to do

1200+ 'insurgents' have been killed, at least 24 American troops

2 hour firefight earlier 'today' in central Fallujah

almost no civilians present in the area

terrorists could filter back in when they start letting the 300k residents return

Right now, US troops occupy entire city

Spirit of troops: tough 7 days, grueling, holding up ok. Tired, warn out, but holding up.

====
another phone report (Brett Baer). Some (3) US injured from booby-trapped doorway into one house.

Dodd and kennedy that held a fund raiser for John Wong sp and kept some contributions for themselves. They are both crooked bastards.

Right..... Dodd is just what is wrong with our government -- a real crooked b*stard who is smart enough to have cultivated enough just like him in government to cover his ample *ss. He's scum and he is a living disease!
