Faking God

Through their post-election soul-searching, Democratic leaders claim to have seen the light. The reason they lost - and the way to win - is God.

It was precisely this sort of insight for which God created Monday mornings. Not to mention the indispensable thunderbolt.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says Democrats have to start talking more openly about their faith. Sen. Hillary Clinton told a Tufts University audience that Democrats should use the Bible to advance their arguments about poverty the way Republicans did with gay marriage. And writing for Salon.com, the on-line magazine, Edgar Rivera Colon - self-identified socialist, professor, ethnographer and Episcopalian - said the Democratic Party needs to stop pretending it lives in a secular, rational country

As far as poverty is concerned, I believe the New Testament talks about GIVING to the poor. Not about the government TAKING from the people to spend as it pleased. In fact, the tax collector was among the lowest of the low in those days.

Also, Robin Hood, whom liberals often say "stole from the rich to give to the poor," was actually taking from the authorities to give BACK to the people, wasn't he? I'm not in favor of any kind of theft, but let's get our stories straight.

I give to charity and think it's a great thing to do - to help those less fortunate.

This is no different than normal Democrat principals:

Pretend to believe something in order to gain and hold power.

Yep. I can almost hear the thought process:

"Well, pretending to care about minorities didn't work. Pretending to care about the environment didn't work. What else is there we can pretend to care about?"

They still don't get it. It isn't that they need to talk about God. It's that God wants to talk about His moral views through us, his people. And God was definitely on GW Bush's side.

Exactly. The Bible doesn't tell us to create governments to distribute to the poor. It tells us to give to them.

They remain secular and irrational, as always. A little scriptural window dressing and Christmas tree tinsel will not undo the anti-Christian irrationality of the Dems.

Thanks for comment.

Really, it's so simple.

I guess the Bible gets the liberals confused . . .

"...the Democratic Party needs to stop pretending it lives in a secular, rational country..."

What a laugh-this guy Colon needs his cleansed-what is rational about the dim, secular LEFT? The only rational thinking left in this country comes from those who make the red states red!

Let them start talking about GOD and their beliefs and maybe they will come to the realization that GOD doesn't agree with the DIMs beliefs. Especially, abortion, burdening taxpayers, stealing, homosexuality, , atheism, religious indifference, etc...

And writing for Salon.com, the on-line magazine, Edgar Rivera Colon - self-identified socialist, professor, ethnographer and Episcopalian - said the Democratic Party needs to stop pretending it lives in a secular, rational country.

"Until French citizens are allowed to vote in U.S. elections, the Democratic leadership will have to fashion its messages for the deeply religious country it presumes to lead one day."

What condescension !

There you have it folks.

With the Democrats, it's just a fashion.

BTW, RepCath, this is the best essay I've seen on this subject of the Democrats vis a vis the religious faith and LIFE of the majority of Americans.

Well wait until the next major election comes up or before then. They will drop God again and go back to their two-faced petty life existences.

I have no doubt that with a little practice some of them will be able to talk-the-talk. Walking-the-walk is another matter entirely.
If the dims want to start winning over people of faith, they're going have to do more than just spin a little scripture.

Anybody wanna tell me what is wrong with this sentence?

Wow is the Episcopals ever in trouble when they are being represented by people who's goal is to replace any worship of Christ with worship of Lenin and the State...
