In his article of 11/13 Kevin Drum took a stab at explaining how red states got their color via a Nexis search over the past 20 years. The results (and resulting comments) are interesting. He posted a followup article the next day explaining how Republican "blue" states turned "red". Stay tuned for 2008 to see if the answer is correct.

That is interesting. If you click the link about why the colors are used it gets better!

This is like trying to analize again and again, why fish like water.
Quite simply - more and more democrats are realizing they have nothing in common with liberals. The MSM still thinks they are one and the same... WRONG.

Republican red will stay because the liberals at the networks did not like the association of red with communists. The truth is the rats are communists in nature.

Anyone in advertising will tell you that the associations of the color blue and red couldn't be more in opposition:
BLUE = tranquility, peace, fluidity (Democrats)
RED = danger, anger, uproar, blood (harm) (Republicans)
Y'think the networks randomly started the red/blue color scheme?

The United States is Red! President Bush won 2500 + counties and Kerry 500. The counties that voted for Kerry were large city counties, the same counties that give us ethnic Congressmen and Senators, and receive the largest dole.
It ain't rocket Science.
