NBC Says Marine Shot Dead Wounded Iraqi Prisoner
Rooters via Yahho!News ^ | November 15, 2004

LONDON (Reuters) - A television pool report by U.S. network NBC said on Monday that a U.S. Marine had shot dead an unarmed and wounded Iraqi prisoner in a mosque in Falluja.

The Iraqi was one of five wounded prisoners left in the mosque after Marines had fought their way in on Friday and Saturday. There was no immediate comment from the Pentagon (news - web sites) on the report.

U.S. forces launched an offensive one week ago on Falluja, and have gained overall control of the formerly rebel-held city, although scattered resistance remains.

The pool report by NBC correspondent Kevin Sites said the mosque had been used by insurgents to attack U.S. forces, who stormed it and an adjacent building, killing 10 militants and wounding the five.

Sites said the wounded had been left in the mosque for others to pick up and move to the rear for treatment. No reason was given why that had not happened.

A second group of Marines entered the mosque on Saturday after reports it had been reoccupied. Footage from the embedded television crew showed the five still in the mosque, although several appeared to be already close to death, Sites said.

He said one Marine noticed one of the prisoners was still breathing.

A Marine can be heard saying on the pool footage provided to Reuters Television: "He's fucking faking he's dead. He faking he's fucking dead."

"The Marine then raises his rifle and fires into the man's head. The pictures are too graphic for us to broadcast," Sites said. No images of the shooting were shown in the footage provided to Reuters.

The report said the Marine, who had returned to duty after being shot in the face a day earlier, had been removed from the field and was being questioned by the U.S. military.

Sites said the shot prisoner "did not appear to be armed or threatening in any way."

Gimmie a break, would you have preferred this marine took the humanitarian route, gave the terrorist a nice hug, maybe attempted CPR, only to be killed by a grenade? What would you say then? What would you tell his family? I am offended that would be so bold as to second guess this hero in harm's way. War is hell, period! I say good riddance to this less than human s**thead. Do you not grasp the concept that they want to kill all of us, no matter what? When do we got to say, enough is enough. Off comes the gloves you a**holes...look out, you pi$$ed off the US military.

He should be court martialed for not killing the reporter. How could he leave a vicious, lying enemy of the United States alive. Doesn't he realize that those treasonous cowards in the MSM are eager to inflict more damage on our U.S. Marines? On second thought court martial is too lenient. Summary execution is warranted for the marine.

In combat, you KILL your enemy.

Being politically correct in the midts of a battle is, not only STUPID, but it is FATAL!

This Marine was shot in the face the day before, probably by these same pigs, thanks to the help of leftist radical reporters and their other supporters (kerry, kennedy, clinton) who would prefer to see the Marines dead.

"what could he have been thinking?"

1. I wonder if this is the SOB that gutted that poor woman?

2. Is that a grenade in his pocket or is he just thinking of goats?

3. You want to see Allah? Here let me help.

4. This SOB lives, and I'll have to fight him another day.

5. Is he about to self-detonate?

6. God I hope I make it home alive and this SOB doesn't kill me.

Just a few ideas to answer your particularly pompous question.

I so mad at the few freepers who are so critical yet so clueless about war.

Show me a real marine or seal who has seen the video been in combat (not kerry who had his enemy overwehlmed) then I will listen.

This is war, fools, not a photo shoot.

No kidding and this is why the @$*@ MSM needs to be banned from the battlefield!

Obviously the only reason they are there is to aid and comfort the enemy.

Where the he** is the film and the MSM outrage over the limbless gutted body of some poor women that the satanic muslims hacked to death???

NBC said on Monday that a U.S. Marine had shot dead an unarmed and wounded Iraqi prisoner in a mosque in Falluja.

Did NBC verify the terrorist was unarmed? The last (11/14/04) unarmed terrorist exploded in a Marines' face killing him. Did NBC verify that the terrorist was an Iraqi? Last time I checked there were 400 terrorists captured that weren't Iraqis. Did NBC verify that the terrorist was wounded? Was the camera man a doctor?

Now, let's say that everything the NBC report said is true. Maybe the Marine killed the terrorist to put him out of his misery? You (collective) would put a rabid dog out of his misery, wouldn't you?

All this Geneva Convention Bull$hit, when none of these terrorists are signers of the Protocols? And you (collective) know that if that terrorist somehow was treated for his wounds and survived, he would surely kill again. Not just a Marine or soldier, but you (collective).

Yeah, it was a poor choice of words on my part. I understand what he must've been thinking, and I hate to second-guess him. It's a difficult situation, particularly with cameras rolling.

I saw the video and the shooting seemed in no way justified. This is going to be a stink. And what does it say about his judgement that not only did he shoot but he did it in front of a reporter?

Then what the military needs to do is send in all nearby pool reporters first, so the reporters can check the bodies to see if any are still combative, or just faking it, so the rats can try to blow someone up. The reporters can read them their rights, or put them in touch with the ACLU, before our soldiers can finish them off.

I was thinking that this WAS the same story we read yesterday, even though the details have changed. Apparently the theme for this week is "American soldiers are violating the Geneva Convention and shooting enemy combatants they should be helping."

"his act unbecoming"

This Marine had just been shot in the face the day before. According to reports, just down the road from this mosque four of his Marine buddies were killed by an explosive devise set off by a terrorist FAKING he was dead.

Some of these Marines and soldiers are seeing things every day that many people can't even bear to watch on televison, including their own guys being hurt and killed by these terrorists, the decapitated bodies of American civilians, and the disembowled, dismembered body of a Western woman; (not to mention the dogs and cats eating the bodies of the dead terrorists in the streets). As a Vietnam veteran with the 1st Cav I will say outright that what some of these guys are dealing with is just as hellacious and intense as any other war we've ever been in.

I for one have absolutely no problem whatsoever with this Marine doing his job and killing a terrorist who would cut his throat or blow him to bits given the chance. Faking dead to do just that is a terrorist tactic. Give this kid a medal and let's stop all the whining over a dead terrorist.

If this were John Kerry, the MSM would giving him a Silver Star. The MSM are such A-HOLES. I would have shot the guy also if I just "had returned to duty after being shot in the face a day earlier. . . ."

I'll bet the marine was shot in the face by some terrorist piece of crap acting like he was dead. Shoot first, ask questions latter is my motto!

"it may give us the urge to demand an investigation into Kerry's war crimes."

not only urge, but certain justification.

What is good for a young Marine goose in '04 is also good for a VN era gander . . . no offense intended to the Marine by this analogy! ;)

Check out post # 153 and tell me what frame of mind this guy

was in after hearing about his buddies being shot only

minutes before and being shot himself the day before. I for

one will be siding with this "our" soldier.

Sorry, I can't access it.....

Go here. From the list on the right under "BBC News: Video and Audio" select "BBC Ten O'Clock News" from the list on the right. When the pop-up window comes up select "Falluja shooting under scrutiny" from the list of stories (it's the second story in the show). And it is edited. The screen goes black when he is shot.
