How can we contact the US military to demand the end of the embedding of reporters? (vanity)

I am believing that the young marine believed fully that the "insurgents" were all confirmed dead. Logically that was the only reason they would have been left unguarded. When he saw one of the confirmed dead move, he believed the mover had been faking being dead and was going to do the marines (or the embedded photog) immediate severe, lethal harm. That's the way I saw it.

I think that if the above post and the one that I am responding to would be reread your position on it would be pretty crystal clear. Seems the best route our embeds could take, and considerably more loyal to our country and our military would have been if the reporter had only reported the incident to those INSIDE the military first. HE held responsibility to do that and IMO, only that, until the investigation was complete or he was given MILITARY clearance (some freedom of movement and that means the movement of information must inherently be restricted during times of war).

While the reporter may not have been wrong (no one really knows unless you were in that room) he handled it atrociously and opportunistically. He did harm, to our country and military and created needless work for those fighting on the morale front who are trying to make sure that those men and women know that they are honored, respected and trusted.

It's not necessary for you, NutmegDevil, to talk about which wars you've been in before I can see the reason behind your statements, I just wanted to thank you for the part that you did in keeping our country and way of life safe. :)

The primary loyalty of the embedded journalist is to his readership. Not to his nation or to the soldiers/marines he accompanies. I accept that. Though I don't share that decision.

As with Carol Simpson, the ABC news reader/anchor who as recently caught on CSPAN espoused/admitted that she & her leftist cohorts of the sixties went into journalism to change the world - not to report the facts, but the TRUTH as they would like others to perceive it, Kevin Sites, the long haired, goateed Hippy Freak NBC report stringer/embed was either biased (i.e., motivated by his desire to make the world a better/more civil, less contentious place - Peace, brother) to start with or his report was twisted through the NBC editing process. His stress level probably was quite high, too.

I don't watch TV anymore, so I get my news from radio and the INTERNET. Having heard a leftist, BBC sounding embed (not Kevin Sites) this morning give Imus his twisted version of what happened (e.g., no inkling that the marine could have not realized a possibility that the wounded "insurgent" was known to be wounded and not yet fully expired). Imus, no friend of the preemptive war, realized the bias and his commentary has been fully on the side of the combat marine - who is not a bugler as Imus was as a peacetime marine.

I do believe journalists are fully biased toward whatever Democrats espouse and are even farther leftists than they. Even FNC journos (I've heard/read) are leaning left so they are not spurned/ignored at the journalist cocktail parties and barbecues.

On my service to our country in war - I was FIRST thanked by a lady who overheard my telling a Connecticut Limo driver I had first met him (twelve years earlier) when he drove me from JFK to Darien upon my return from Viet Nam - she just said, "Thank you for your service." I made me feel pretty good. It took twelve years but a Nightingale sang. Thank you, too, for your thanks.

Spot on about who the loyalty of the embed journalists is rendered unto. When this bias is brought front and center, when great harm to our cause is so evident and immediate it's hard to give the benefit of the doubt.

Perhaps a new protocol will result from all of this.I maintain my position that it should have been subject to military channels of investigation first.

His stress level probably was quite high, too. LOL, and fully torqued right now. :-D

I have learned more during this election cycle about democrats, Republicans and the political landscape that we negotiate daily. My husband and I do not get news or entertainment from the TV, if it is on, it's playing Veggie Tales,Nemo or Educational DVDs (we homeschool).

Kudos to Imus, if only these vignettes of decency could be more frequent

Twelve years earlier-WOW- you must be great at social soirees to be able to remember faces or names like that.

I am sure the Nightingale's song was a balm to your spirit and I am honored to be among those to extend my thanks, I never got to with my great grandfathers or grandparents.

I have enjoyed our conversation and look forward to seeing your name on the other threads. :-)
