U.S.Marines were fired upon by snipers and insurgents armed with rocket-propelled grenades from a mosque and an adjacent building. The Marines returned fire with tank shells and machine guns.
They eventually stormed the mosque, killing 10 insurgents and wounding five others, and showing a cache of rifles and grenades for journalists.
The Marines told the pool reporter that the wounded insurgents would be left behind for others to pick up and move to the rear for treatment. But Saturday, another squad of Marines found that the mosque had been reoccupied by insurgents and attacked it again.
Four of the insurgents appeared to have been shot again in Saturday's fighting, and one of them appeared to be dead, according to the pool report. In the video, a Marine was seen noticing that one of the insurgents appeared to be breathing.
I just signed the petition; thank you for the Ping, Tonk!
Thanx for the heads up there, SheLi'.
I'm in - Number 2587.
It seems that Free Republic is being heard from.
Again.
As far as I'm concerned, no one who has never actually experienced the unspeakable horrors of actual combat has any right whatsoever to go armchair Monday-morning quarterbacking and passing judgement on what these gallant Soldiers and Marines are doing over there in that fetid outpost of Hell.
If these self - appointed moralists in the press are such humanitarians, then why don't they seem any more than a little sort of grossed out and wrinkle their noses when American (or ANY nationality) hostages get kidnapped, tortured, and decapitated?
And this poor woman - a REAL Humanitarian, we might add - who was kidnapped and probably tortured is found dismembered, disemboweled, mutilated, and left in the street to rot, it's a bit of a pity perhaps... - but when a wounded Marine in the heat of Battle "finishes off" a terrorist who is probably just waiting for him to turn his back so he can pop up and kill him for Allah, it is an unspeakable "Outrage" and an "Attrocity"?
Hells bells; he might as well have pulled a pair of nasty old panties over that thugs head before he capped him, for all the dither it's caused in the lamestream press!
These socialist pundits get all hot and bothered offended if anyone so much as questions their "patriotism", but I'll tellya what; as much as I've tried to be at least a sorry excuse for a Christian and turn the other cheek - I'm flat runnin' outta cheeks, here!
Somebody's just apt to get good and offended before this week is out.
~~~*}B^{(~ ... GRrrrrrrrrr...
