North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il is shown (obviously alive) on North Korean last night, (Korean time), on 17 November 2004, recently inspecting (date unclear) the North Korean Peoples Army "Unit 754".
However, as South Korean TV reporters from YTN-TV in the voice-over in this clip note, the traditional Korean-language title of "Great Leader" is absent from the usual script.
This is the first time that such an honorific title is missing, when describing Kim Jong-il, in their national press.
The video clip starts with the South Korean TV female announcer for 30 seconds who introduces a very short file clip showing how North Korean TV (male announcer, note the NK communist lapel pin) had referred to Kim Jong-il in the past; then shifts to yesterday's North Korean TV news broadcast, including the still photo shots of Kim apparantly inspecting a KPA unit recently (cold weather).
Cardinal Montalto on his crutches?
Add that incident to reports of his photos being taken down and it continues to remain interesting. What is the meaning of all of this? Possible successor being planned?
Thanks. Well, what can I say. Plz. see post #17. That's about all I can offer. Somebody out there has more to add, or perhaps some new stories to share on this thread, or maybe a new thread if something BIG develops..
Something definitely is afoot there. Please ping me on significant developments. thanks.
I smell a coup!!!
Hmmm...could it be the guy kicked the bucket, mysteriously and recently, and its being kept on the downlow? Anyone? Anyone?? Bueller?
your are definitely smelling something rotten.
I'm starting to think that China is using NK as a bargaining chip. China wants to have most the influence in NK. Maybe if China takes care of NK then we look the other way on Taiwan. Plus if NK turns more west friendly thats just more cheap labor they can use to make crap to flood our markets.
Second, a possibility..
He's preparing to "retire", and turn rule of the country over to his son.. ( 2nd wife, younger brother? )
This would probably be a "transitional" turnover, much like his was..
Reason? Possibly health reasons.. Possible Mental health..
Loss of Father, Mother, 2 ? wives, since '94, may have taken it's toll on him.. ( I get the idea he suffers from severe bouts of depression.. )
Despite all of the derisive remarks, Kim is not a stupid man, if reports from russian sources are true..
He is, according to those reports, quite intelligent.
Possibly he sees a need for a "percieved" regime change in order for N. Korea to survive, in the short term.
He undoubtedly knows N. Korea has no hope of surviving in the long term..
Im thinking the Generals think that Bush is going to bomb NK to a parking lot and assasinated the little dictator.
I hope Kim Jong-Il rots in Hell for eternity.
Aha the great kimchi, no that's polish, but anyway he looks lika cabbage ready for fermenting. Sighohnora great one.
I'm so Ronery / So Ronery / So Ronery and Sadry Arone / There's No One / Just me Onry / Sitting on my rittle throne / I work very hard and make up great plans / but nobody listens, no one understands / Seems rike no one takes me Serious-RY / And so I'm Ronery / A rittle ronery / Poor rittle me / There's no one I can rerate to / fell rike a bird in a cage / Its kinda sirry / but not rearry / because its firring my body with rage / I'm the smartest most clever most physically fit / but not one at all seems to re-a-rize it / Maybe someday they'll all notice meeee / And until then, I'll be ronery / Yeah, a rittle ronery / Poor rittle me...
Needed Pic ;-)
Interesting idea. The guy is, despite his reputed intelligence, an ego monster of the first order and as much a prisoner of his cult of personality as Saddam turned out to be. Can he step down and continue breathing?
I have no more ghost of an idea of what's really going on than anyone, but something certainly is.
love the picture that starts this post about the great one. if you scroll back to the top and look at the great one and his lackeys in the barracks, you'll notice it's almost xmas time in the land of goons. in the attic, just over the head of the great one, are the neatly, red wrapped xmas gifts from the great on to the dmz binocular boneheads. the great one is asking the binocular boneheads in the barracks the one question that leaves them all speechless; "does anyone beleive this sh^t". ah kimchi!!!! great cabbage patch dictator
Well, that's it, then: the NK media found out he voted for Bush.
Just noting that NK's foreign policy communications over the past several years has been one of ...
- One day they threaten to Nuke everyone;
- Next day, they are all nice, nice asking everyone over for cocktails and discussing how they ready to give up their nuclear program and make peace;
- The next day, it's right back to a nuke war is coming your way boys.
They are the master of switching back and forth between threat and concilliation, threat and more concillation.
You never know if this is just misinformation getting us to hope that regime change is just around the corner.
Ping. Kinda makes one nostalgic for the days of Kremlinology.
