Do they actually publish National Geographic Magazine or does it just sort of spontaneously appear in thrift stores for a nickel a copy?

Now ask them if evidence has supported Newton's theories.

The actual poll results were about 1/3 yes, 1/3 no, and 1/3 I don't know.

Reading this article I am once again forced to ask when was the last time monkey turned into man? Anyone seen a blue-eyed ape recently? And finally, from MXC on Spike tv;

I love the species that flings it's own feces!

If it's really 1/3, the trend is up.

Why are people of faith so afraid of Darwin? I fail to see how it is incompatible with belief in God.

Well, you know, I was raised as an atheist and I have always supported evolution and everything, you know, and like even in the last election I voted for Darwin, but you know, I just have a problem with evolution these days.

I mean like how come humans are the only species to climb out of the prehistoric goop and like evolve into a higher species which can communicate with a spoken AND written language and have opposing thumbs?

I mean, it kinda like makes you wonder how come? Like not only did humans evolve but they changed from living in water to breathing air and then developed legs and lungs.

Gee, I just don't know if I can support Darwin anymore with all these things that are troubling me.

Signed,
A seminar caller to the "evolution" network

The Dems are proof that some are still evolving out of primordial slime.

Two thirds or more of this world once observed that the Sun revolved around the Earth, per their firsthand evidence.

Yet they were wrong...

This is just like those polls where they ask people if they're "conservative" "liberal" or "moderate", and 2/3 the people who say they're moderate are really just liberals. Those who said that evolution is "just a theory" unsupported by evidence really belong in the column of those who don't know enough to comment.

Third of Americans Say Evidence Has Supported Darwin's Evolution Theory

Wait.

Doesn't that mean that two thirds of Americans say that evidence does not support Darwin's evolution theory?

That, to me, is the more interesting finding.

There are two words that are an absolute refutation of Darwinian theory and those words are...

...James Carville.

Yes, interesting.

45% believe that God created Man in present form at one time in the past 10,000 years or so.

I'd expect a high percentage of that percentage voted for Bush.

As support for my expectation, 26% of those identifying as Conservative (and 29% identifying as Republican) think that "Darwin's Theory of Evolution Is a Scientific Theory Well Supported by the Evidence."

"Third of Americans Say Evidence Has Supported Darwin's Evolution Theory"

Not surprising, considering the NEA's origina and agenda, and the fact that grade school textbooks still show things like the long-disgarded "horse ascent" scam on the inside cover.

I'm actually surprised that 2/3 overcame the public school brainwashing enough to know its a theory and not supported by the evidence.

Man, these threads are becoming tiresome. It's like years of debates on this issue on FR have never happened and new waves of Creationists appear, making the same argument over and over again.

Now I know how Bill Murray felt in Groundhog Day.

Some people have this all-or-nothing attitude about evolution and like to use this to argue against it. The fact is that there is no scientific theory that is perfect - all theories are approximations that are reasonably consistent with experiemental data thus far obtained. With new data, we adjust and refine the theory. That is how science works. I can't understand for the life of me why people get so worked up about evolution. It is a scientific theory. It is not perfect. It is not final. It is a work in progress and ever will be. If we go back far enough there will always be a big question mark. People need to give God a break and understand that He likes to use imagery and symbolism at times to make things more interesting. Why does 7 days have to be 7 Earth days? Maybe God is working by a different clock.
