Reported on Fox news.
- Masked gunmen assassinated a Sunni cleric north of Baghdad on Tuesday - the second such killing in as many days.
Sheik Ghalib Ali al-Zuhairi was a member of the Association of Muslim Scholars, an influential Sunni clerics group that has called for a boycott of nationwide elections scheduled for Jan. 30.

Each time this happened, there were mass demonstrations in the streets by enraged mobs of Sunnis. My thought is that the assassins could be trying to recruit more suicider insurgents from among those wanting revenge for these killings. To keep an otherwise dying insurgency going. I am not convinced these clerics are being killed by Iraqis who are trying to send a message to Sunnis to stop the violence and join the democracy movement. I could become convinced, but not based on current information.
