Is a mosque a holy place? Q. Is a mosque a holy place?

A. A mosque is a place that is specifically dedicated as a place of prayer. However, there is nothing sacred about the building or the place itself. There is no equivalent of an altar in a mosque. A Muslim may pray on any clean surface. Muslims often pray in public places.

Then why are we so careful not to destroy them?

Maybe I'm to soft on this but I feel that a mosque is the equivalent to any other church (assuming no one is shooting from it or supporting terrorists there). Many Islamic holy places have been diluted by extremists within their ranks. They, as a group have a lot of work to do to be welcomed into everyday society without suspicion. I think that when Moslems treat their mosques with the dignity and respect that we extend our churches / synagogues they should and probably will be considered similarly.

Only once it's been vaporized in a spectacular fashion.

For a hint, please see tagline.

Is a mosque a holy place?

It takes real imagination to come up with penetrating questions such as this, especially when one takes account of the trail of carnage that follows Islam.

According to the Geneva Conventions, holy places stop being holy places when weapons are stored there, when they are used by a fighting force as hideouts etc... (I will provide link if asked).

In short, a church is a church until its a weapons depot. Same with a mosque. If they go into it, we can bomb it. If they stay out of it, we *shouldn't*.

Of course it is war and mistakes are made.

[A mosque is a place that is specifically dedicated as a place of prayer.]

This is not unlike the fact that anyone with an IQ exceeding that of a rabid animal can become a preacher (Imam), as long as the "congregation" accepts it. Thus this gutter "religion" gives the evil ones a wide birth. IMO, it is WE who should decide what is permissable by these heathens. For example, any Mosque that is used for support of terrorism should be obliterated. Just like any Imam who preaches sedition should be executed. Keep destroying their assest and keep killing the monsters in the "leadership" until the rest finally stand down. By the way, this has been necessary before. Islam is pure evil.

Nice find.

We’ve all seen rankings, meant to be taken as official -- “The Flyspeqabad mosque, Islam's 3,279th holiest place” -- with no mention of ranking body.

Mosques will be respected as holy places when they are no longer used as bomb factories, arsenals and terrorist havens. Until then, the answer is NO.

Personally, I wouldn't stop even when the "stand down" occurs.

If men are firing rounds, grenades, bazookas, mortars etc from a mosque, a church, a temple, or a school, it is no longer a place of prayer but a legitimate target for the Artillary.

I don't buy the whole "holy place" argument. If I was a commanding officer, and my men were being fired on from anywhere, I would order that place destroyed, and I don't care if it's the Pope's balcony in Vatican City.

If you want to see equivalence then you have to see reciprocity. Take it from me, Islam does not grant reciprocity. It has a singular, one-way view that Islam is the true religion. Hence, Muslims who convert out of Islam are killed. New churches are forbidden in Muslim dominated countries, even in a so-called moderate country such as Egypt.

The tight blood relation claimed by its principle clerics to Mohammad make the administering of Islam a very undemocratic institution. It is run by a clergy that is as abusive as the European Aristocracy was to the serfs in Medieval times as it is to the present day fools who blow themselves up.
