The mood among the throngs of Yushchenko supporters rallying in their Independence Square tent city was celebratory, exuding confidence that the Supreme Court will annul the official results that declared Yanukovych the winner of the Nov. 21 run-off.
They waited all day for a ruling they expected Thursday, watching live broadcasts of the court sessions on televisions in the square, showing the 18 red-robed judges behind stacks of documents hearing testimony in the cramped chamber.
But the justices adjourned in the evening after beginning final arguments. They will hear more arguments Friday, then retreat for deliberations before ruling. It was unclear how long the process would take.

The real question will be the remedy proposed by the ruling. Will they go with a run off or order new elections?

Like I said from the beginning, the last thing that Yuschenko wants is new elections.

Putin is NOT against re-running the election. He's against re-running only the second round.

Like I said from the beginning, the last thing that Yuschenko wants is new elections. why do you say that? he's stated repeatedly that he wants another electioin on dec. 19th.

What he tells the people in the square is that unless the government is dismissed they must seize themselves the power immediately

they're doing the same thing they did in iraq. delaying. so they can make they're last minute deals and shred the appropriate documents. kuchma and putin are in moscow right now in meetings. why is kuchma in moscow while his country is in chaos that he started by running a fraudulant election?

What he tells the people in the square is that unless the government is dismissed they must seize themselves the power immediately good. power is being taken away from the people, now it gets taken back. he has repeatedly suggested for a dec. 19th election.

Because they don't think that the winner of the second round was due to fraud.
So repeating the second round would be like repeating until you get the results you want.
Starting from scratch can't be seen anymore as that, but as a gesture to prevent a civil war, avoiding the logic that you have to re-run it because there was decisive fraud in the second round.
