Good riddance to this loser, one of Bush's many bad appointees. Maybe he can be replaced by someone who believes in controlling the border. Or is that too
much to expect?

What a poor excuse for a man.

That comment was repugnant.

If I weren't the really nice person that I am, I would be tempted to say something not too nice about your ugly remarks against Asa Hutchinson. Asa has accomplished a lot in his life that benefits America. If you disagree with him on policy it is worth commentary. Being uncivil about him personally is a reflection on yourself.

I think he ought to pack his bags and go to Mexico since he loves illegals so much.

I'll say it again: Asa Hutchinson is a poor excuse for a man.

The reason? YOU try getting up in front of a roomful of people who want real answers about illegal immigration and spouting a line of pabulum. You might feel ashamed.

Asa Hutchinson can do it and not feel shame. QED.

He's been a loser for quite some time.

Yup, there was a time when I really liked him, but he became quite a dissapointment.

Perhaps a few people have noticed that I don't make as many comments as I used to. The reason? Too many people here who make ridiculous and hateful comments. I personally think we are being infiltrated by DU types, who like to give the impression that conservatives are knuckle-dragging types and cannot discuss policy without resorting to juvenile name-calling.

There is no discussion with people like this. I personally wish I could figure out a way to stop this kind of behavior, but I am not the person who runs FR. I hope it will slow down soon, since it makes so many threads so unpleasant.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one here on FR that thinks Asa Hutchinson was a sack of crap.

No, sir... Some of us just aren't allowing Hutchinson's former status as Clinton Impeachment manager to place him on a pedestal forevermore.

"All of the vituperative posts against Asa Hutchinson are from uninformed persons who have not stated just what their grief with him is."

Homeland Security on our borders with Mexico is my beef with him. He was a mealy mouth in a radio interview on July 8, 2004 on the John K show out of southern California. He was evasive and dodged questions and it was sickening. I'm not interested in anymore slick talking politicians....

Lets not make our party our religion and our party leaders as our deities.

We as a nation are a family and AMERICA is our home. I have a question. Suppose one of your family members or maybe one of your children was bringing in crack and crystal meth dealers into your house saying these are just my friends? What would you do to your child and what would you do to his friends?

My friend, I am a NATIONALIST. Anyone AMERICAN who is not willing to stand up and fight for our country, I have no respect for that GENTLEMAN.

You're right that the tone is often stupid and destructive.
But in this case, there's more than usual because the immigration issue stirs up so much deserved anger. On immigration, the Bush administration has quite simply SCREWED its political base, and it shows every sign
of continuing that pattern.

As long as those tens of thousands of illegal aliens crossing our borders continued to do so under his watch and he tried to sidestep the issue, it leads one to feel bitter towards him. He was wrong in the way he handled this responsibility.

I am quite wiling to discuss immigration. However, I find too many of the anti-immigration people unwilling to consider all of the problems that go into the issue. I will list a few things that I never see discussed in these threads:

What improvements have we already made on curtailing illegal immigration?
What difficulties would we encounter should we attempt to totally close the Mexican border?
How much would it cost?
How would we find illegal aliens in the US, and what curtailment of civil liberties would it uncial?
What efforts has Mexico made to assist us?
Is there a possibility that the borders are "open" in order to catch terrorist who enlist smugglers? How many smugglers are really CIA agents?
Is it possible that perhaps the Presiding actually cares about security and is doing stuff we don't know about?

I never hear intelligent discussion about these topics. All I hear is that Bush is "selling us out" and "cares about giving cheap labor to his buddies."

When people want to rationally discuss this issue, I will be happy to do so. Meanwhile, crass insults about Asa Hutchison, who was an honorable member of the House Impeachment Managers, is frankly off-putting. Did Asa suddenly change his character? I don't think so.

Sinkspur's point I think is that less is more. One doesn't need to make a point with offensive over the top hyperbolic statements. In fact, I find for myself that understatement is typically more effective and persuasive. The goal is to draw folks in to thinking about one's ideas, not drive them away. Think about it.

Well, I have made a couple of points about where the rubber meets the road. Improve the quality of ID's, and make them harder to counterfeit, with a central data base and a swipe card, make those applying for temporary work status do so from Mexico, in order to reduce the incentive to immigrate illegally, and send some employers to jail. The single biggest problem with Bush's plan, is his just putting it on the table seems to have increased the flow of illegal immigration by 80% according to some sources. That is unacceptable. Los Angeles County is nearing fiscal meltdown with the flood. The flow needs to be curtailed to back within its banks.

Those are my thoughts.

Instead of this he should ask what can I do to help in another area or I can stay here and help with the process.
It just looks bad when you say I did not get the job well I'm going home.

What is hyperbolic about my statement?

Asa Hutchinson has no shame. He thinks telling the people to just F-off is fine. In fact he sees it as his duty - a job well done.

If he job forced him to be a lying weasel, he could have left the job. Nope. He relished it. He went out of his way to tell you and me "Nope, I'm NOT going to change border security."

F him. And the horse he rode in on. He deserves his infamy.
