Are you prepared to make that generalization about all American men who take foreign brides, or even a majority?
Guys who really want to love and be loved, bring up traits they appreciate beyond nationality and their likelihood for being grateful and subservient.
Why can't that be true of men who take foreign brides, who are wedding women they "appreciate beyond nationality?"
Also, do you really associate being grateful with being subservient?
No.... it isn't true for men who are looking for companionship and happen upon a foreign wife, due to his location or hers (living overseas). Certainly there were many of our soldiers who have found women during deployment and students who find each other studying abroad.
But I would be prepared to say it for anyone who actually decides to limit his search to foreign women as a criteria. Yes, I'd say that generalization holds. He wants to form her in his own image of a wife, and he thinks she's a blank slate who will appreciate anything above what she'd get at home.
