STREISAND SLAMS IMPOTENCE ADVERTS (Desperate bid to capture attention of "values voters")
Contact Music ^ | 07/12/2004

Posted on 12/08/2004 12:19:33 PM PST by presidio9

BARBRA STREISAND is sick of advertisments for anti-impotence drugs, deeming them "morally questionnable".

The singer and actress claims Hollywood films hardly ever shape our moral attitudes, unlike commercials for CIALIS, which improves a man's ability to function for up to 36 hours.

She moans, "I resent this thing about Hollywood and moral values. What movies are out now that have questionable moral values?

"You know what I think has questionable moral values? The Cialis commercials."

Streisand is turning herself into box office poison right before our eyes and ears.

Glad to see she's taken a firm stand.

I'm sick and tired of the ED commercials. It's getting so I don't even want to watch TV, period, especially with my adolescent kids around.
My eldest is 8 and therefore-and-sadly I cannot watch any FNC while I'm making dinner (I'll add that the news is as distasteful as the ED ads).

Sounds like a good one.

Also "Passion of the Christ" was the absolute best. There should be one theatre in every town showing that movie all year long to keep everyone's priorities right.

I loved the expressions of people leaving at the end of the film (including me).....sobering to be reminded visually of what a great thing Jesus did for us!

It made the "reality" of the big shopping mall we were in seem really ludicrous.

I have to agree with Babs on this one but I wonder why this strikes a nerve with her? A little close to home, perhaps?

I like the part about seeing a physician if your erection lasts more than four hours

I'd rather see the nurse.

I call it the Arriana Huffington syndrome-live large and wasteful but harangue the middle class for doing on a small scale what you are doing on a much larger scale.

Viagra has long been known on the streets as a "party drug".

Street prices are 10 bucks for a 100mg. The guys that are supplying them cant keep them in stock....

Apparently, partiers like the short term effects of Viagra over the other two longer acting drugs.

I catch kids with pockets full peddling them like pot or crack.

"What sells this stuff is the subdued audio disclaimer towards the end that goes something like this: "Erections lasting more than four hours, though rare, do occur and you should seek medical care immediately". Right. Like that won't get the average 17 year old's attention."

Most 17 year-olds have six-month erections without Viagra or Cialis.

Cialis is for men; why would they have a disclaimer about 4-hour erections in a product intended for women?
