How the Ohio Recount Will Proceed (After the Electoral College Certifies A Bush Win Tomorrow!)

How the Recount Will Proceed

Some questions have been raised as to how long the Ohio recount will last. They key issue will be is whether ANY discrepancy is found in the vote totals during the initial manual recount.

Here's what Section 3515 of the Ohio Revised Election Code says about the (paid, not automatic) recount process. The board must randomly select whole precincts whose total equals at least 3% of the total vote, and must manually count.

If the tabulator count does not match the hand count, and after rechecking the manual count the results are still not equal, ALL ballots must be hand counted.

If the results of the tabulator count and the hand counted ballots are equal, the remainder of the ballots may be processed through the tabulator. (for optical scan and punchcards)

The key phrase in the election code there is ALL ballots must be hand counted if the totals don't square up perfectly (even by one vote) out of 3% cast per precinct.

Could this open the door to the tabulation of the spolied votes?

I don't think counting the "spoiled" votes is going to change the election.  You said it yourself: these people are moonbats.

(And as an afterthought: I wasn't "yawning" at you....but at the whole Ohio recount thing.)

That's because the job of the recount is NOT to find out the truth, or who won.

It's to provide red meat to tin foil hat Demos.

Remember how many times the vote in FL 2000 was recounted, each time with Bush winning?

By election 2004 it had become an article of faith with the Michael Moore koolaid crowd that the FL election was a "coup".

I wanted to throw up when I heard Kerry talk about the "millions of black voters" that were disenfrachised in FL in 2000.

We did a full investigation here after 2000 shown on the public TV stations and they could not find ONE black person that was kept from voting according to the law. Not one.

They are still saying that the press declared Gore would have won if all valid votes had been counted.
The "press" said no such thing. The only way Gore would have won Florida in 2000 would be if all election law had been suspended allowing for counting of over votes, those voting for more than one candidate or voting multiple times for Gore. That is people of obvious ignorance who were herded into a voting booth and were told by dem operatives to make sure they voted on all pages,so they repeatedly voted for Gore not aware they were spoiling their ballot.

Kind of funny that Republicans are supposed to be the stupid ones.

This whole paid recount process looks to be an end run to get at the spolied ballots and then try and determine voter intent fradulently like Florida 2000.

We need to keep our eyes on this, even if they are moonbats..

Agreed, this paid recount is all about finding a count that will switch as many votes as possible through legal and extra legal means.

The only difference this time is that Gore is not out front and center..

The Dims tried suspending election law last time VIA the Florida Supreme Court and almost got away with it!

My head insists there is nothing to this recount noise in OH - and that the media are going to ignore it for the most part - However, I have family in OH and they insist this is getting news coverage there to larger extent than they keep suspecting it will -

Not sure where this goes but it would shock me to see the media jumping on this RECOUNT big time over the next few weeks (look for some big expose type story to allow them all to jump on it 100mph).

They will do ANYTHING to cause disruption in this country. They are the SOCIALISTS that are trying to replace this Constitutional Republic with their European Socialism. It would do us well to WATCH this crowd, they are very dangerous.

the rules-

Whichever party slate wins the most popular votes in the State becomes that State's Electors -- so that, in effect, whichever presidential ticket gets the most popular votes in a State wins all the Electors of that State. [The two exceptions to this are Maine and Nebraska where two Electors are chosen by statewide popular vote and the remainder by the popular vote within each Congressional district].

On the Monday following the second Wednesday of December (as established in federal law) each State's Electors meet in their respective State capitals and cast their electoral votes -- one for president and one for vice president.

There are still something like 95,000 spolied ballots out there that it looks like the dims want their hands on.

I think the rate in Flordia was something like 20% where the votes could be determined from those ballots, and Kerry would nearly need all of those spoiled ballots to count in order to have a shot.

It just aint going to happen

The Democrats are basing their position on the concept that a count of votes should be perfect. They know full well that this is impossible. There is going to be a margin of error no matter how many times you count. This is an unfortunate reality involved in counting very large numbers of votes.

The Democrats in charge know this, even if many of their goofy airhead followers do not. The tactic is to recount multiple times in close races until the margin of error football bounces their way. When it does, that is the only recount that they will put their stamp of approval on.

They justify this by generating mock outrage at vote recounts that vary by any amount from the original count.

The tactic is to throw suspicion on the overall election process, and blame the completely unavoidable variances on Republicans. They are only interested in short-term gain of power and have no interest whatsoever in the fact that when they do this, it undermines the electoral system in the minds of the voter.

They are manipulating the unavoidable errors inherent in the system for their own gain. But they are introducing the poison of distrust of they system to the public. They are manipulating the psychology of their followers after election losses and fanning those followers distrust of the democratic system. They are setting the stage for their own followers to not accept the legitimacy of any election. When that happens, anarchy will reign.

At the same time, they are manipulating the laws so that their own questionable voters are not challenged. They continue to make attempts to make it hard to spot illegal aliens voting for instance.

These two tactics are diametrically opposed to one another. You cannot demand a perfect election and then insist on laws that prohibit anyone from making sure voters are legitimate voters.

The synergy between these two tactics brings into question whether it is just a grab for short term political gain, or is really a long-term premeditated attack on the system designed to cause anarchy in the long-run. In any case, its a pretty good set of tactics to delegitimize our entire electoral system.

Im convinced the libs want their hands on those spolied ballots in Ohio to perhaps retroactively make a case of 'what could have been in Florida..'

They better have a real story. Because a whole lot of people are sick and damn tired of elections and will not take kindly to having something they thought was finally over shoved back into their faces Dan Rather style.

Even a lot of Democrats I know are relieved that the whole two-year election saga is finally over, even if it didn't turn out the way they wanted.

I personally have over 136,000 Ohio votes for Kerry that I stole, that are now located in a public storage unit (Storage USA, actually) in New Jersey. I know, I know, it was wrong. But I couldn't help myself. All you gotta do is start handing out doughnuts - follow the doughnut crumbs.
