Of course, the media has already been screaming, "how can our troops be left so defenseless against mortar attacks." Since this was NOT a mortar attack, I wonder what they're going to say now.

I wasn't paying that much attention, but I had imagined that most of these bases had pretty wide perimeters...

The mortar explanation seemed unusual.

they will say, how could we let our troops stay vulnerable to a suicide terrorist attack... oh krap - we didn't mean to say terrorist, we meant "insurgent resistance"... (that's how it seems some days)
