Being childless and having abortions are from the same root: selfishness. Period, end of story. If you could have, but do not have, kids, why waste the oxygen? I know this is harsh, but...

Hi DennisR-

Please get a grip on yourself! Would you make this same statement in the worst areas of Detroit, Philadelphia, Camden, or South Central Los Angeles? The residents of those areas can all have kids. Will you harshly criticize those who choose to remain childless?

You can only apply this attitude to someone whom you absolutely know to be childless for nothing but selfish "I don't want to take the time to care" reasons. The problem is that so many people who think like you apply this attitude to someone BEFORE understanding why they are childless. It may not stem from selfishness and isn't your business anyway. So don't assume that selfishness is the root, as you put it, when you just don't know.

In my opinion it's better to not have kids than to have kids and make a mess of the raising of them. Perhaps the people in the article don't feel as if they're cut out to be parents.

Its both harsh and wrong. Being an adult doesn't mean that its a moral imperative to have children. People can contribute to society and humanity without producing offspring. Some of the most charitable people I've ever met do not have children. Not having kids isn't always an act of selfishness ( not that there is anything wrong with being selfish either)

What a load of crap. You can't be a real human being or accomplish great things without having kids?! Ridiculous. By the way, I just had my first child 12/14/04. I'm just not enough of jerk to call people without kids useless oxygen thiefs.
