Thanks. Glad to hear all are ok.

Buckling up is a habit for me.

I started buckling in 1976 when I worked for EMS. That cured me of driving unrestrained.

Don't know if its true or just marketing but I remember a Highway Patrolman state he never had to unbuckle a dead body in an accident.

I believe seat belts save more lives than not...

...however, are you sure about the respective speeds of the cars?

Internal organs being slammed against the breastplate and all...

Just wondering.

Great news! Still don't support the law, except maybe for the underaged.

I started buckling up back in 1988 when my brother was involved in a roll over accident. Thank God he was wearing his seatbelt, because according to the trooper at the scene, had my brother not worn his seatbelt, he would have been killed!

When I first saw your headline, I feared it would be a story about horrible injuries to someone who wasn't wearing their seat belt. I'm so glad to read just the opposite!

Yeah, I've become pretty fanatical about wearing my seat belt over the years. A little reminder never hurts.

I am an avid supporter of a persons Right to not use a seatbelt if they have reached the age of legal consent. Having said that, I would wonder where your mind-set was if you(as in anyone) delberately choose not to wear one. I am very happy to hear all was well with your family and that everyone is of the most part OK.

Good to hear all are relatively unscathed. I buckle up just to listen to radio when sitting still in driveway. Seat belt saved my life in '85.

Whatever reason you've concocted for refusing to buckle up really doesn't do justice to your intelligence.

I wear one only cuz it is the law in NC. I was involved in a horrible wreck when I was 18. A car slammed into my vehicle on my side going 60 mph. The force pushed me into the passenger side. The officer said if I would have had my belt on I would be pushing up daisies. Then he proceeds to give me a ticket for not wearing a belt. NC had just passed that law.

Had a family friend get in an accident when a couple of teens decided they were going to outrun their friends and passed in a no-passing zone. He barely made it out even though he was wearing a seatbelt. Was disabled from it for a long time. Got screwed by his lawyer who wanted to curry favor with the well connected father of the girl who hit him.

But yea, without a seatbelt he'd have been in even worse shape.

In 2001 I was hit and it totalled out a 2000 Ford F150 I was in. I was buckled and the only injury I got were burns on the inside of my arms from the deploying airbags.

When I was little, my mother had me convinced that the car wouldn't start unless everyone inside had their seatbelt buckled. To this day, my car doesn't move until everyone inside is buckled, and I don't care who they are.

I just read over the weekend, a story of a woman who was in an accident...she was the passenger in the vehicle and buckled up. She would have been fine, but the unbuckled driver was thrown into her and that resulted in serious injuries to the buckled woman. I thought that was freaky.

Glad to hear your daughter and the others are ok, but I really don't like being lectured to on the virtues of buckling up and -I-am-so-stupid-if-I-don't.

See, some of us don't buy it that "buckling up" is safer.

When I was 15 California had just implemented the seat belt law. My boyfriend and I were out in the mountains, and I decided that we should buckle up before heading back down. Not even two minutes later we went off the mountain into a 100' embankment. The car was completely totaled, I had minor cuts that required stitches and he had a scratch. I am a believer in safety belt's (but still not sure about airbags, due to my petite frame).
