Thank you my friend.

I've been accused on this thread of being defensive and protesting too much, when all I have been doing is stating facts regarding my personal experiences, just as others are doing.

No where have I EVER stated that homeschooling is wrong or that public schools are better than private schools or homeschooling. My position is that not all public schools deserve the broad brush of "all public schools are bad" nothing more, nothing less.

What others choose to read into my words is their problem, not mine. But I will not stand by quietly and be told that all public schools are bad and that parents who utilize them are somewhat less on the scale of parnetal quality.........whether explicitly stated or implied.

You're welcome. :)

There are people all over (and not just here on FR) who have trouble with people being specific in their opinions and making distinctions. Most people think in shades of gray. We all know that not all public schools are bad, but when faced with a bad school system, and being unable to either move or afford a private school, homeschooling is the best option for a lot of folks. How that automatically translates into an opinion that ALL public schools everywhere are bad is beyond me. I attended a great public school, personally.

What gets me as much as what you've already pointed out are these hyper-righteous folks who come in here and insult, lie about and totally do all they can to cut down thoseof us who send out kids to public schools. That they homeschool for religious reasons is scary. Sorta reminds me of a sermon that I heard once on "The Devil in the Churh".

How many posts back did I explain this to you??.....FR search function is your FRiend.

I will explain it one more time, more slowly for the comprehension challenged..........the original post you are continually referring to was to someone I have discussed this topic with on MANY different threads. I did not say it was on this thread, although it has since happened, nor did I single out any specific poster as being guilty.

I suggest you back off.

"Good gravy! This argument again?
Our kids have terrific Public Schools. I am pleased to see a voice of reason on here."

Maybe where you live, but in 99% of the rest of the old US, they stink.

LOL!

Post away.

I've got better things to do.

I shouldn't have bothered to respond to you and your other buddies to begin with. Denial of the negative impact that secular public schools have on a child is not something you appear to be able to grasp.

Part of any step towards recovery is to admit there is a problem. IN your situation the problems lie with a secular public school education - if you can call it an "education". I'll use alcohol addiction as my analogy. Till an alcoholic can admit they have a drinking problem there is not alot you can do to have them help themselves.

There's nothing good about public schools. Nothing. If you want to believe they are wonderful - go ahead. Have a nice day. You and others are welcome to flame away, take what I say out of context, ridicule it or whatever else delights you which I am sure you will do anyway.

I hope it's okay with you that I post this at the other thread.

That's fine by me, but please note that a later post of mine does not paint a flattering picture of her since her re-election and other posts I have made are far from flattering about how she has handled being Governor. Granted, none of that has anything to do with her having gotten a GED - just the fact she is a flaming RAT.......

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure if adandoning the public school system in toto has been advocated on this particular thread (you're right it's long) but it has occurred before.

The points you bring up regarding special needs, etc., are perfectly indicative of what I was talking about.

I believe you may wish to take a reading refresher course...it has been stated more than once on this thread that ALL public schools are bad......in the opinion of the posters.

Some have toned it down and acknowleged there are some good public schools, others just choose to keep on blinders and attack the messenger.

I wonder into which of those categories you fall?

BS. This is a very long thread and since you just chimed in, I suggest you read first and post later.

Getting away from the prison-like public school system has caused their spirit and vision to soar even higher as they have resolutely separated from the pack and decided to run their own lives, rather than schlep with the lemmings.

Pray for vouchers for the "lemmings." Some families, especially single parent families, simply can't afford private school.

My brother is a cop in an upscale, wealthy, public junior high school in a town of about 100,000. He averages two arrests per week for violence against students and teachers, as well as possession of drugs and drug trafficking.

I went to public school in an upper middle class suburb of Boston. Didn't see violence against teachers, but plenty of violence against students, and the rest of the debauchery reported in this article.

After graduating college and returning to town, I used to tell parents, "if you want to get drugs, go down to the high school." They couldn't believe it. I don't know what people are smoking.

Thank you, sir.

That is primarily the point I'm trying to make when I say that abandoning the system altogether is not the solution to the problem.

I am the first to admit that I did abandon the system in Delaware by moving to Virginia, but I was far too familiar with the system in Delaware and realize that is one that needs to be abandoned on a major scale. It needs to be destroyed and started from scratch.

My husband graduated from a public HS in Delaware in 1973 and he was adamant that our daughter would NOT attend any school in that district. Without going into details (which are rather boring) it cost us a great deal in both time and $$$ to leave Delaware in order to find a good school for our child. But it was worth all of it, she is that important to us.

To understand why Gabz and her husband went to so much trouble to find a good school for their daughter, go to Gabz' profile page and see the pictures of their adorable little princess. . .

Good Grief man....my initial comment was made to annyokie and a poster on this thread that showed a voice of reason in the early stages of the thread.

Your attempts at conjecture of my intentions here are just that, conjecture.
