Ring them old alarm bells. Just found a book on FR that supports your conspiracy theory, Bob.
It's an extraordinary book, "The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America" by Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt. This former senior official with the US Department of Education found a fat compendium of research, copied it, and fled. She discovered the mother lode and is one of Americas unsung heroes.

Among other things, she found a 584-page catalogue of behavior modification programs to be used by the schools.
Let me repeat that: a catalogue of behavior modification programs! Were not talking about programs to teach students anything academic. We are talking about programs to indoctrinate children passing through the system to believe in values contrary to those on which this nation was based.
Thanks for the ping !
As I said earlier and you just confirmed: Breathtakingly arrogant.
You seem to have good intentions, but really, take a step back and think about what you're saying.
(I had figured that's what you meant but couldn't quite believe someone would have the nerve to say that, but there it is...)
Please. Pretty please, can't we all just get along?
Now don't everybody jump on me, but it appears to me this discussion has deteriorated into The Pejorative Times. Could I suggest a few ground rules so this thread is more fun?
1. Stay on the subject, unless you have a signed note from your teacher, doctor, or mommy stating that you suffer from attention deficit disorder.
2. While we dont want to descend to the inanities of Congress (the HON-orable gentleman from Massachusetts . .), is it too much to ask that all insults be witty?
3. Only 8 repeats of stuff you talked about 100 posts ago.
4. Take pity on the others who have to read your post - - ask yourself would a dweeb of average intelligence find it interesting?
5. Its not fair or humane to form cliques as if we were all suddenly transported back to high school. Sugary little compliments should include everybody!
6. Finally, leave nastiness to the DU creeps.
(Sorry if I have offended anybody but Sunday is my day for making lists.)
Based upon what you related, I can't blame you a bit for your position.
There is a reading program here that is sponsored by the county school district and the local community collge. It is geared toward preparing kids for kindergarten/1st grade, but is family oriented and emphasizes family participation in the learning process.
My daughter is far too advanced to really participate in the weekly reading hour or the weekly projects they send home for those participating, but it is such a valuable program that I volunteer and participate whenever I can help out.
The district and the CC take care of printing up the papers and distributing them, the minimal costs involved in the monthly "field trips," and the annual "book" that is published.......the purchase price of which goes to cover many of the above mentioned costs. Everything else is done on a volunteer basis.including the program director.
ROFLMPJO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Coopster!!!!
That is your personal opinion, and is no more valid than that of others....nor is it anymore incorrect than the opinions of others.
Since you don't wish to take off your blinders, it becomes your problem not ours.
Kiss mah grits.
I quite understand and please understand that when I post that I do not want my daughter to have pre-marital sex, since it could lead to her having an illegitimate child, it is simply a general observation and not intended to denigrate anyone in particular.

Well, I would, but since I haven't said anything about that to you on this thread, then I would have to consider that a bit of a cheap shot. In fact, I didn't say anything to you until you posted to me first. The way you did that right now was a back-handed dig, and I'm sure you know it. I won't say anything further about this to you, and I would appreciate it if you leave me out of it, as I asked you to do before.
DO NOT EVER BRING MY CHILD INTO A DISCUSSION UNLESS I DO SO FIRST. In fact, don't ever post to me again, thank you.
I'm not even worrying about it....let alone going to lose any sleep over it.
We all form our opinions and make our choices based upon many facets of input, including personal experience. what may seem wrong to one person, is right to another.
Remember: one man's trash may very well be another's treasure.
Now that is an out and out lie. It has been said on this very thread.
Au contraire. Read nmh's comments.
What's this? A sampling of that "Christian" teaching that your daughter got/gets?
