No Kid Rock at Bush concert
Committee backs off plan to feature rapper after pro-family Americans express outrage

Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all.

"He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND.

No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time.

Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance.

Personally, I like that crossroads genre, the one where country and rock border one another.

Have you ever been to a KR concert? Apparently not. It is the same crowd that shows up to Charlie Daniels, Lynyrd Skynyrd, or Hank Jr shows. Believe me, that is a huge part of the conservative vote.

He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. - Matthew 12:30

This is a statement of fact, not a admonishment or guideline on how to treat people.

We can accept this as Truth and still approach the unbelieving or fallen away with love and respect. Sometimes we forget that He most of all has the right to be offended by mans rejection, yet still chooses to offer Salvation. Can we hold ourselves in any higher regard?

Thanks for that info. I find that interesting because I consider myself extreme right since I'm pro-life, pro-family, and pro whatever else most conservative Christians are called. And most of my Christian friends actively campaigned or voted for the President. So in my eyes he was the candidate of the religious right.

I could be wrong, though, because maybe there is a "right" out there farther right than me.

That said, I haven't really heard Kid Rock's music, except for the Super Bowl stint (he did sing there, didn't he?) But the lyrics posted were awful and not just "naughty" words as some have said. Plain old naughty words do not conjure up images of the types of things he was singing about(for example, Dick Cheney to Leahy).

I'm glad KR supports the troops and maybe he is trying to clean up his act. It seeems to be a moot point, now, anyway with your recent post, H, saying he never was going to perform.

My question is, does he still sing songs like the ones posted? I'd hate to be judged by my past. Not that I was a wanted criminal or anything, but I've done stuff that I'm not proud of. Everyone deserves a second chance. Except Scott Peterson, LOL. I know, that's another thread.

I can remember a time when people thought The Devil Went Down To Georgia was a Satanic tune. It's not.

Now John answered and said, "Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us."
But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side."

Kid Rock music may or may not be ok for private consumption, but not acceptable for Inaugural events for the Republican party.

excellent post! I agree 100%. Those who think differently lack the judgement necessary to have a valuable opinion on the matter.

Exactly, he used to write songs about drugs and sex and such. But eventually he changed.

I know KR personally and it is so stupid what some of the people on this board are posting about him. It is a shame that they read some story on WND and believe it all to be true.

The lyrics that they printed in the WND story are from 1990! KR does not sing those songs in concert.

I wonder if these same people were pissed when The Rock appeared at the RNC in 2000? Or maybe they think Chuck Norris is an evil violent person!

"Lonely Road of Faith" by Kid Rock

(Kid Rock is singing this song TO GOD, about God, and about his faith IN Him)

Up and down that lonely road of faith
I have been there
Unprepared for the storms and the tides that rise
I've realized one thing, how much I love you
And it hurts to see, see you cryin'
I believe we can make it through the winds of change

God is great indeed
If you believe, in the everlife
Yeah we gotta
Make some sense of the piece that's not defined
And if you just hold on, I wont let ya fall
We can make it through the storms and the winds of change

Though I walk through the valley of darkness
I am not afraid
Cause I know I'm not alone

And if the wind blows east, would you follow me
And if the wind blows north, would ya stay your course
And if the wind blows west, would ya second guess
And if it blows to the south, would you count me out
And if the sun don't shine, would you still be mine
And if the sky turns grey, would you walk away
Would you say I do, if I say I'll be
And walk this road through life with me
You know I love youuuuuu

On this lonely road of faith
On this lonely road of faith

*********************************

Our brave men and women in the military, almost TO A SOLDIER, if not TO a soldier, absolutely LOVE The Kid--and it goes MUCH deeper than The Kid "speaking to their *generation*."

What do you all think about our BRAVE AMERICAN MILITARY, (the great Americans that bravely and tirelessly protect US AMERICANS DAY AND NIGHT,) as far as THEIR INTELLIGENCE, GROUNDEDNESS, JUDGEMENT, INTEGRITY, DECENCY, and MORALS are concerned that they, IN FACT, LOVE Kid Rock--THE PERSON, his songs, him singing his songs to them--THE WHOLE PACKAGE?

He has performed to OVERWHELMING APPLAUSE at the Kennedy Center, for Tommy Franks, to honor Colin Powell, and on numerous country music network TV awards shows, WITHOUT ANY OBJECTIONS--ONLY PRAISE.

Hank Williams, Jr. also loves The Kid, and sings with him on Kid Rock's CDs.

People used to trash Daniels, not for DWDTG, but for Uneasy Rider,Long Hair Country Boy, and others.

These same people were mad when The Rock did a speech at the RNC in 2000.

I caught myself replacing "Watergate does not bother me" with "Abu Ghraib does not bother me."

Excellent.

Actually, it looks he was never invited in the first place, lol! :)

I have absolutely no problem with folks expressing their opinion in hopes of changing people's minds, attitudes, or what have you. Otherwise, what's the point in opening your mouth anyway? LOL

What I have a problem with is when people (no matter WHO they are, and in my mind, libs are just as bad about this!) state that it's their way or the highway. The expectation that because it's their belief, that that is how anyone else should be forced to believe or live. That sort of thing doesn't go over real well with me, or anyone else who feels perfectly capable of making their own decisions. It seems to go against some very basic things that our country was founded on.

I don't need people to ban or censor books, tv shows, art, or music that I disagree with. I am a grownup, and I know how to avoid these things if I don't like them. I also don't want or need someone else to tell me what is appropriate for my child, and that if I disagree, I ought to be thrown in jail, or branded as an immoral person because of it. That is a matter of taste, not morals, imo.

The big issue on this subject-if not necessarily this particular thread-for me, has been the appearance of expectations. A lot of folks have implied that their voice should count more than others that supported the President because they are somehow more "moral" than others who did the same. That they deserve a veto when others don't live up to their moral standards. I don't agree with that, and I will fight that with everything I have.

I think you're missing our point; the "real, true" conservatives are the ones on FR who believe that their beliefs and only their beliefs constitute the definition of what a "real" conservative is.

They are the malcontents, the unappeasables, the "slash and burners." The ones who won't compromise and see anybody who does as a traitor.

I'm not a Kid Rock fan, but I think one can be without being a morally deprived.

You are pitifully wrong. If a person likes foul mouthed, drunks that are drug addicts and are addicted to porn, I'm sorry but they are "morally deprived".

The fact that you don't know means you are not even close to edge.

Not to worry.

There is a line somewhere right of you (I have been to the line and can tell the tale) where Christians take "different" set of priorities to the ballot box.

What may surprise you further is that there is a group further right (and they would say at a higher elevation) that believes that Christians have no business voting at all.

Michael Peroutka was the Constitution Party candidate.

I got an e-mail from the party telling me I should vote for him because Bush was pro-abortion.
