I thought that someone's sexual orientation wasn't important. Isn't it supposed to be the content of their character?
Saying someone did something great isn't good enough anymore. Now we have to say they homosexual AND they did something great.
I'm sick of this crap.

No, the aim is not to tag these folks as gay as much as offer closet cases "heroes" they can identify with. Something like blacks having "heroes" who made it... or women... we still talk about the 1st black Secretary of State, or 1st women, first black or woman Justice of SCOTUS and so on. It's to inspire like situated folk to achieve rather than feel oppressed or disadvantaged.
