So, Wicca is ok but the BSA is forbidden?
The BSA is wholly supported, as a volunteer effort. The bases can't provide federal assistance (read TAX PAYERS DOLLARS) to the Scout troops in the form of Charter fees, paying camp fees and any other misc. expense a Scout troop may have. They do provide meeting buildings, and don't charge for them from what I remember. Alot of people have their underwear in a knot about that article a few weeks ago, but the whole, truthful story is not being told.
Do you find it even plausible that hundreds of military families are going to find it acceptable at any level that Scouting is not allowed on their post or base? The military folks who support Scouting will always find a work around for any situation, and we did.
The military establishment loves the scouting movement, the senior leadership encourages military members to volunteer as leaders, and other positions, allow them to take Permissive Temporary Duty time off to attend Scouting functions, and provide camping areas, and campsite locations on most bases, etc., etc.
Before anyone else tries to slam the military for this policy, you better check with your idiot elected officials in Washington DC who may have caused this line of tripe to be spread.
Cheers!
