Did not see this posted. Do not know about posting something from Townhall so I excerpted the article. I read Mere Christianity las year and feel the need to reread it.

As much as we may dislike it, our society is headed toward secularism as an abiding construct; this entails the acceptance of a natural fundamentalism based on the carnal imperative inherent in human biology.

Ethics, as defined by individual acceptance will displace morals as an overarching framework for community.

Offense will lead to swift retreat by the offender for fear of retribution and passers-by will be encouraged to pass by.

Since most of our bodily effort will be spent in the act of copulation, obesity will become a thing of the past along with drug addiction, alcoholism, smoking of harmful substances and all those other activities detrimental to recreation substituting for meaningful effort.

In perhaps less than a single generation, our biggest concern will be accidental procreation by backward and unenlightened tribes bent on disrupting the destiny of the groin.

Atheism leads to anarchy because they believe no Law rules the universe. They can make up their own "universal" law. They believe there's no prevailing universal right and wrong.

It's a bad philosophy; that's why Communists are godless. They try to create their own universal law. Can't be done.

"Without God, there is no virtue, because there's no prompting of the conscience. Without God, we're mired in the material, that flat world that tells us only what the senses perceive. Without God, there is a coarsening of the society. And without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure. If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under." -- Ronald Reagan

I disagree. I think sometimes you should just leave people alone.

Nietzsche: "God is dead."

God: "Nietzsche is dead."

Nietzsche: "That makes two of us."

I don't have the same reaction towards atheists, even when I see them attacking my basic religious freedoms.

Just yesterday I was shocked when I saw for the first time Calvin of 'Calvin and Hobbes' pissing on a cross. At the very next light I saw the second one I've ever seen. Why don't they just put a big sticker saying "We deserved 9-11!" That probably wouldn't even anger as many people.

True atheists are pretty rare. At least in the places I have lived. Most people that I meet who think they are or claim to be usually turn out to be agnostics.

Well, people at FR, even the most devout religious folk, mostly speak nicely and respectfully to me. I get criticized more for my sick sense of humor than anything else.
