During the electrical energy crisis, we thought that Gray Davis would surely be toast in the next election. He was reelected nevertheless.
Within a year of reelection, Californians broomed Davis out, and got A(r)nold in a process that seems bizarre to me. I doubt that A(r)nold could have been elected as a Republican in a conventional election.
There might be 14.9 million conservatives in CA, but I doubt that A(r)nold is part of that number.
