Thank you for posting that. Most of it is correct, except that Rosenthal really caught that shot by accident - he swung around and snapped without getting a good look. He never actually attributed the photograph to his skills.

Rosenthal's just being modest (pretty much a lost quality these days, isn't it? :-D ) A good photog has an "eye" and gets his best pics by instinct, just like a good skeet shooter doesn't actually aim his shotgun, he just points.

I'm only a photographer's assistant, but my husband is a very good photographer who specializes in action shots. He does a lot of sports photography, and he gets hired to do 'candids' at weddings a lot because he gets those grab shots. You really don't have time to fuss, focus, and frame - that's for portrait photographers.
