A U.S. marine killed in Iraq is laid to rest this weekend.
26 year-old Marine Corporal Richard Gilbert Junior died in a helicopter crash two weeks ago.
30 other marines were also killed. The crash remains under investigation.
His mother says her son joined the Marines after the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Family and friends gathered for a viewing Friday night.
The family is from Dayton.
Funeral services were held at the Marker and Heller funeral home, in Huber Heights.
