Yea, someone should tell Ted that it takes the average teenager 15 weeks to learn to drive and get a drivers license, but only 1 in 15 million then drive their car off the bridge and kill their passenger.....congratulations, you are in the minority...

"If America can train the best military in the world in 13 weeks...?

More like 13 years, thanks to commie pukes like Kennedy, who left our military in shreds in the late seventies under Carter. Thank God for Ronald Reagan.

We really need to have trainers and advisers on hand even after our troops are gone to insure the Iraqis have an army that will defend their democracy. Its more than just giving a man clothes and teaching him how to shoot a gun. Its an attitudinal transformation in the way soldiers use force. And in Arab culture, the predominant motif usually has been to shoot first and ask questions later, that if any one bothers to ask questions at all. So what we're doing is completely revolutionary. Rome didn't get built in a day and neither is the new Iraq. Creating a new army out of scratch takes considerable lead time and its one hampered by the terrorist insurgents taking recruits and shooting them. So we've got difficulties America recruits don't have to face. Still we're doing the job and instead of bloviating Uncle Ted ranting about why we're not bringing our boys home faster, perhaps he should ask if they have what they need to make Iraq a true success. Politicians have no idea what's required to build a trained, skilled and modern fighting force.

One fundamental tenent of liberal politicians is that anything is easy - provided, of course, that someone else is responsible for it (the other, of course, is that liberals are not responsible for anything).

Let's review the bidding here. Senator Kennedy wonders why, in the time it takes for basic training of an American recruit to the pfc level, English-speaking Americans have not trained Arabic-speaking Iraqi grunts to the level of sergent. I can't imagine, can you? </sarcasm>
