Maybe the 'Rats will relent on some of the nominations. After all, they remember what happened to Tom Daschle.
You got that right, Mud. Ted's more interested in picking a single malt scotch, picking his nose or picking navel lint than doing anything constructive.
I would not be surprised if the majority rules change is passed to allow these nominations to go forward, then the Democrats would go to the courts to seek an injunction to prevent either a vote from taking place in the Senate; or if the votes have already been completed, then they would seek an injunction preventing the president from signing authorizing these judges; and if that fails, then they would seek an injunction from allowing the judges to be seated. These Dims know how to fight, illegally and unfair. This is what the Democratic party is surely known for, the 'gutter party'.
I truly believe that the democrats are the worst thing to have happened to this country in recent memory.
They are for ignoring and breaking any rules and laws as it so suits them. The end justifies the means, no matter if it means breaking rules, ignoring rules, or changing rules. They are slime!
I know the Reps want to change the rhetoric from the "nuclear option" to the "constitutional option" and I agree the term may suit the action more. I still love the first term. I love the fireworks it engenders.

Estrada I'd love to have nominated again, but with his wife's death I doubt he could be convinced to go through the hell the dems wish to subject him to without cause.
I do believe it is more than coincidence Frist announces they have the 51 votes the day G.W. releases the list of his nominations submitted once again.
Thank you G.W. for holding firm! I'm truly hoping at the end of the day I can say the same about our Republicans in Congress. I've largely withheld judgement against them in fairness. I sincerely hope that judgement is rewarded.

" WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush set up a showdown with Senate Democrats on Monday by renominating 20 failed judicial nominees, many of whom had been denounced by critics as "right-wing extremists."
The renewed battle over the nominees promises to produce plenty of fireworks as Bush begins his second term with an expanded Senate Republican majority and still-defiant Senate Democrats.
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, a Tennessee Republican, has threatened to change the Senate's rules to prevent any more procedural hurdles known as filibusters against judicial nominees.
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada has vowed Democrats are "not going to cut and run" from any such fight.
Democrats have also promised to retaliate against any rule change by invoking other procedural hurdles that could bring the Senate to a standstill.
"Republicans would rue the day they changed the rules," Reid has warned.
Democrats blocked 10 of Bush's judicial nominees with filibusters during his first term. In addition, more than a dozen others were left hanging when Congress came to a close last year. "
Reid vows dems "won't cut and run". The dems make me so sick, they serve no purpose other that to fight W and what most Americans want for their country, for the life of me I can't see what purpose they serve but to obstruct our government. They certainly don't have the guts to fight our enemies. Our troops and our enemies know all to well how quickly the dems will "cut and run" when it comes to a real fight.
Thought the reason Estrada withdrew his name was because of his wife's illness...SO he could spend time with her....
Expect him to be "W" first SCOTUS nominee.
Um. She wasn't ill. This was a sudden and unexpected passing.
While I would love to see Estrada on the bench, I really doubt it will happen.
