Middle school marks puberty and domination of determination of an individual student's behavior by his or her peer group rather than by his or her family.

That's a main consideration for me. I wouldn't send a child I hated to middle school, public or private. I used to be a nice person, before I went to Junior High.

What is the fate to be of the children whose parents are incapable of home-schooling their children, due to their own illiteracy? As well as those who cannot afford to pay for Private schooling?

this is who public school was originally meant for... those who had no other options... but through the years, it became a given that most people would send their children to be educated by the government... it should not be this way... it's no different than everyone going to the government for public housing...

think how much smaller the schools would be and how much more could be done if only those who had no other options (no chance of being homeschooled or privately educated) were the focus of public schools...

An excellent point to ponder.

...The only effective means to change a corrupt system, is to get involved and create dialog...

We could have had a long dialog with the Taliban I bet.:-)

Yup. Sounds more like jail than school, no wonder the kids are miserable & want out.

We have been discussing inexpensive ways to fast track kids through high school to avoid the liberal agenda and other idiocies:

Unfortunately my thread title was not well thought out, because some parents might instinctively skip over it due to attached stigma, whether real or imagined.
