I believe McDougal was secretly in love with Bill Clinton, and entertained ideas that he would leave Hillary and cling to her (Susan)IF she proved her loyalty to him.
I also believe that McDougal was the type of woman who easily fell in love with someone with power, and Bill certainly fit that bill as AK governor and then President.
