I was sort of hoping that Mel Gibson would make the movie he was rumored to be making about the Maccabbees (spelling?), I think that would prove to the Jews once and for all that Gibson is a man of profound faith and not an anti-Semite.

Agreed. Maccabees (sp? too) would be great. And especially so because it's one of the books that is in the Catholic Bible, but was deleted in the Protestant Bible when Luther split the Church. :) It would not only prove that Gibson isn't anti-Semitic, but would also draw attention to a neglected book of the Old Testament.
But Fatima...AH! My girls would LOVE that. They love the Blessed Virgin, and are fascinated that Mary has appeared to children so often. It makes them feel special to know such a thing.
Yeah, I'd been looking forward to the Maccabees movie.... Although personally I think the story of the Bar Kochba revolt is more interesting, plus it fits in with Mel's love of blood and torture (note to Christians out there: the Romans tortured and brutalized Rabbi Akiva much worse than they ever did Jesus).
