It kills me to say this but I hope Schumer succeeds, because this "reform" bill is a awful bill bought and paid for by MBNA. It ought to fail.

This issue has killed bankruptcy reform in the past.. and is at risk NOW of doing it again.

Good. Let's hope it works again.

The Senate’s role is not to decide who passes the DinocRat litmus test on abortion or homosexual marriage, but to vote on whether the nominee is qualified, period. We need to take a stand on this point and not allow our Senators to be bullied by the press and their minions in Congress. This is a major axis point in the transfer of power to Republican.

Other than the WoT, this is the most important issue facing President Bush and the Republicans in the next four years. If they allow the minority Dem Senators to get away with this unConstitutional nonsense, I will never vote Republican again nor give them one thin dime! Time for Frist et al to stop kissing Democratic butt and play hardball!

"Please Vote "No" on the Schumer Amendment to S.256. The amendment singles out peaceful pro-life protesters and denies them the right to declare bankruptcy."

Take Immediate Action - U.S. Senate to Vote on Schumer Amendment Tomorrow
Take Action Now - Urge U.S. Senators to Vote No on Schumer Amendment to S.256, the Federal Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention Act

Take Action!

New Jersey Residents

Amendment would penalize peaceful pro-life activity

PLEASE CALL YOUR UNITED STATES SENATORS TOMORROW MORNING

ASK THEM TO VOTE NO ON THE SCHUMER AMENDMENT

CAPITOL SWITCHBOARD - 202/224-3121

BACKGROUND: Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has introduced an amendment to S.256, the Bankruptcy abuse Prevention Act, which would deny peaceful pro-life protesters penalized under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE) the right to declare bankruptcy in order to avoid financial ruin.

Under the FACE Act, abortion clinics can bring civil lawsuits against pro-life protesters for physically obstructing access to the clinic, even if the obstruction is completely non-violent (prayer, silently holding a sign, etc.) The FACE Act was also sponsored by Senator Charles Schumer. Many protesters have been heavily fined and have sought relief through the bankruptcy laws.

Pro-life groups have successfully fought Schumer's efforts to stifle pro-life citizens for years. This measure singles out pro-life citizens and is discriminatory. Unlike other groups who can seek to protect their families' assets in bankruptcy court, this amendment penalizes pro-lifers and prevents them from taking similar action to protect their families.

PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SENATORS RIGHT AWAY!

THANK YOU.

Senator Schumer’s Sneak Attack On Pro-Life Activists

Next they'll probably try to exempt all fees for abortions from tax in the Tax Code.

That's why we needed line item veto.

You can thank the Supreme Court for that one too.

There is something I just have to remark on---

Yesterday, just before the vote on Kennedy's min. wage amendment, Harry Reid stood up and and made a big deal about how important is was for Kennedy's amend. to pass, BUT that unfortunately, he KNOWS that the reps. have been "given their marching orders to march LOCK STEP and defeat the amendment"---those were almost verbatim what Reid said yesterday--

I thought the use of the words--marching lock-step--interesting considering KKK Byrd's Nazi comparison last week.

WELL, this morning, right before the vote on Schumer's amendment, Schumer made the exact same comment, using the exact phrase that the reps would march lock-step to keep the amendment from passing---

Now we all know that Harry Reid formed a "War Room" when he came to power---now we know what book is the most prominent--Mein Kampf--so they can use any and all allegorical references to the Nazis that they can when speaking in front of the cameras for all of the WORLD to see--

I think it is disgraceful, and the ADL and the Reps and the pajamahadeen need to call them on it!!!

REID: 3-7-05" I was heartened last week to see my Republican colleagues express their commitment to addressing the issue of poverty. Press conferences were held. But I believe the time has come for them to back up their words with action and vote to increase the minimum wage to $7.25 an hour. It is not going to happen. We understand that the marching orders have been given, and they will all walk up here and vote against increasing the minimum wage."

You sure he said "lockstep"? He may have taken it out,but it does fit in that context.

Dang, you are right---now that you posted that it was prolly the "marching orders" comment that perked up my ears yesterday---

Then, when Schumer used the similar language today--I saw a "talking point" common theme, which maybe is wrong, but it is just too close to the NAZI theme that Byrd used last week to be coincidental, IMHO---

I would have to read Schumer's exact speech from this morning again--it may have been the "marching orders" also, rather than the "lock-step" that I posted before--

I want to apologize to all of you---if I quoted wrong--I would be furious if dems did it to a REp senator, so I need to get it right!

Thank you Oxen, for your help---

I noticed on thing that I forgot to mention in my rant of a few posts ago---after Harry Reid said that the amendment of Kennedy's would be defeated by the reps because of "marching orders"---, I watched to vote and there were 3 republicans that did vote for the amendment--Lincoln Chafee, Mike DeWine, and I can't remember the other right now---

The point is, though, the dems did not have ONE vote against the amendment---so I ask who is actually FOLLOWING the marching orders?

Yeah, that is right--I remember thinking it was odd also, because I have never gotten the impression that Norm would go against the grain---

The only thing I can think of is, that he knew the amendment was going to fail, he could go home and tell his constituents that he was for higher min. wage---although, if I were he, I would have voted for Santorum's instead--just to keep my reputation in the Senate--

Can't think of any other reason--
