I am sure it has always happened, we just never heard about it.

FR brings to light a lot of cases that only would have been local anyway prior to FR.

I doubt there is any sort of trend toward this happening more often.

It has always happened, and it's reported more, but I think it is definitely happening a lot more frequently.
