BAGHDAD, March 10 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi Government on Thursday announced the arrest of ten assistants of terrorist leader Abu Musaab Al-Zarqawi, including persons in charge of propaganda for terror acts, personal guards, an advisor and two drivers.
A statement by the Iraqi Cabinet said the arrests were made during the last 15 days.
The statement identified the financial advisor as Abu Walid and said the man had offered some financial facilities to the terrorist group.
One of the arrestees is a commandeer of a terror cell in Mosul and another is an expert in bomb making. (end) mhg.
Can't tell the vermin without a scorecard :)
...This dude is running out of drivers....
By my count, 183 have been arrested so far. :0
Katie Couric hopes Zarqawi makes it over the border to Syria.
How many people does this man employ?!
Too many flunkies.
Sooner or later, we'll get the grand-high scumbag. I hope he soils himself whe we do.
I wouldn't be surprised if we already HAD the Zarq and were using him to round up his entire posse. That's not what I believe, but it would be genius.

Abu Walid (aka al-Ghamdi)
Dan Darling over at Winds of Change has written a special analysis of the life and times of Abu Walid, the Chechen terrorist who was killed earlier this week. Here's the bottom line:
As an Afghan-trained Saudi al-Qaeda leader, he personified al-Qaeda's influence within the Chechen hierarchy, an influence that has by and large succeeded in transforming the Chechen struggle for independence into a jihad dedicated to the establishment of a Wahhabi theocracy in the Caucasus.
I'll bet he's a quivering coward when they find him.
I don't believe so. Do not underestimate them. Saddam's sons certainly weren't...but they were just as dead at the end of the day.
We'll see. Whenever they get him, IT'S PORK FOR DINNER LIFE SUPPORT MEAL ...
He might flee to a safer area. He might be on the run towards a border. Bet the govt is on his heels.
He will be less effective that way. At least for a little while. Until he can regroup. If he isn't caught.
More time for the govt to establish itself.
"Director of Communications for Terror Operations"!
Wow, talk about a job title that would instantly focus your attention when you saw it on a business card!!! Instead of printing it on card stock, you could have it printed on Detasheet!
Whoo-hoo, I want one of those!

Did you say scorecard?
Not the same Abu Walid.
Why is this so entirely difficult for people around here to comprehend? When one lieutenant, prince, grand poobah, or whatever is captured/killed, another takes his place. But they're often less capable, which can result in even more compromises.
LOL! Good one. (I'm mildly ashamed I missed that opportunity.)
I am just disappointed that there weren't 10 resisting arrest incidents.
Most definitely. Abu this, Abu that, Mohammed this, Mohammed that.
"We just want you to meet Abu Walid," one of the insurgents told him as they drove away. Aqil is overwhelmed with relief. Abu Walid, it unfolds, is a local guerrilla commander who served as a sniper in the Iraqi Special Forces.
He fought in all of Iraq's wars - against the Iranians, against insurgents in the marshes of the south and against the Americans in 1991 and 2003. His men claim that Abu Walid never misses a shot.
Saudi-born Abu Walid, who was believed to be about 30 years old, donned the mantle of Khattab, the flamboyant, Saudi-born rebel leader who died in 2002, apparently after being poisoned. Like Khattab, he was said to be second in authority only to Chechen warlord Shamil Basayev. Special Analysis: Al-Qaeda in Chechnya - From Saudi Arabia to Chechnya
Being one of the most mysterious of the Chechen leaders, little information on Abu Walid's background was known prior to his death, leading to some speculation that he may not even exist or could even be many different men. According to this report (it's from Pravda, so it must be true), Abu Walid was originally from the Saudi city of Najran and served in the elite National Guard, which are responsible for the personal protection of members of the House of Saud. He is said to have met bin Laden during the late 1980s, which fits with reports of him being an Afghan Arab and possibly an early member of al-Qaeda as it grew out of the original Afghan Arab movement.Office of Foreign Assets Control

SAYEL, SA'AD (Abu Walid) (-1982)
PLO leader and senior aide of Arafat; military commander of PLO forces; Brigadier mostly in Lebanon; killed on Sept. 29, 1982 in the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon.
And I am sure there are more Abu Walids. It seems to me that they may have taken this name after some warrior that was great in their eyesight.
Any more speculation about Zarqawi???
