If these tactics were as successful as often as is claimed we would be losing 70 to 80 troops a week. Nothing is mentioned about counter tactics. I becoming convinced the most reliable source of info on the War in Iraq comes from Soldier of Fortune Mag.

Too bad we can't enlist our best street gangs somehow and send them to Iraq.

Among critical research needs are data management and retrieval capabilities, data fusion and language translation enhancements, predictive behavioral analysis and enemy pattern assessment capabilities, the integration of cultural and anthropological factors into intelligence analysis and decision-making, and anticipatory understanding of who will oppose stabilization efforts.

Sounds like we need the whole kit and kabutle......

The insurgents terrorists are grasping at straws. They know damn well they are on the losing end of this conflict, and are simply seeking to inflict as much damage as possible. They have no winning strategy to guide them, just bloodlust. Our troops will come out of this conflict bloodied but smarter and better equipped to handle future conflicts of this kind.

This is according to a briefing created by Blackwater. Wonder if they have service offerings which just happen to match the needs outlined in it.

Did anyone pick up the name of "Cordesman" in there? That is Anthony Cordesman, the same guy from ABC who continually has gone on TV since we started bombing Afghanistan back in 2001, saying how screwed we are, nothing is going to work.

I remember him during the drive to Baghdad, talking about how we were getting bogged down, didn't have enough troops, didn't have enough food, etc. etc. etc.

The guy is an ABC toady.

Many of the tactics mentioned is not new. We ran convoy escort duty many times in Nam and saw many of the ambush tactics mentioned. As a matter of practice - SOP - we never did the same thing twice, always changing our tactics and order of convoy which chellanged Charlie to adapt also. However, as Cav unit, we had so much firepower at our disposal that it was usually a turkey shoot. That is not to say we didn't lose men or equipment. That's war.

Over time, Iraqi insurgent forces have adopted a steadily more sophisticated mix of tactics, including manipulating the media,

I'm SHOCKED that the media could be manipulated...
