I looked up the passage in my Amplified Bible and it says:
" ... You shall not let your domestic animals breed with a different kind [of animal]; ..."
The Amplified version of the Bible is to reveal an English meaning equivalent to each key Hebrew/Greek word.

OK, so instead of breeding a good milk cow with a good meat cow, they're talking about breeding a cow with a horse.
Ummm... ever known a cow to breed with a horse?
