House Votes to Move Schiavo Case
WP ^ | March 17, 2005 | AP

The U.S. House passed legislation late yesterday to delay removal of the feeding tube that is keep- ing alive a brain-damaged woman whose husband has been given permission by a state court to allow her to die.

The House bill, passed on a voice vote, would move such a case to federal court. Federal judges have twice turned down efforts by Schiavo's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, to move the case out of Florida courts, citing a lack of jurisdiction.

Republicans in the U.S. Senate are introducing a separate bill to give Schiavo and her family standing in federal court, and they hope it can be debated today, a GOP aide said.

Oh gulp. I though he was referring to "Schindler's List." Is the pope Catholic? Am I an ass? My very sincere apologies.

In my condition I fear that someday I will be alone and? Even so, forums like this make it a good life.

"Judge Greer allowed Schiavo to use Terri's trust money to fund his bid to remove her feeding tube."

The Florida courts have always been allowing Michael Schiavo to pay lawyers fees out of Teri's medical trust fund. It's obscene that Terri's money has been used to pay for lawyers who go to court to kill her

They're so generous with other people's money, aren't they?

You know what? You think you know everything. IT IS SOME OF MY MONEY THAT IS TAKING CARE OF TERRI. I would hand her folks cash in a flash if they were near me. PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS. Pray that someone helps you in your time of need because you could be in Terris situation someday. Do not post to me anymore.

Living is not lying there waiting for a cruel husband to get the courts to allow him to starve you to death - based on the claim that once she mentioned she would not want to live in that condition.

Her condition would be much better if her family were allowed to care for her, to visit as they wish, to provide her therapy and treatment - which was being denied by the "husband".

Yes, her life could be much better if Michael were out of the picture and taking care of his current common law wife and children and leaving the care of his first wife to those that love her.

He has defaulted on his role as husband (since we don't allow a man two wives at the same time). And, if he has two at the same time - we must not allow him to kill one of them at his discretion - especially since he is no longer the husband - but a bigamist.

But - so many chose to ignore all of Michael's activities and concentrate on allowing him to kill. Why do you think they would do that?

Why do people seem to want the option to kill a spouse based on heresay that the unwanted spouse once said they would not wish to live in such a condition? Looks like free murder to me with the courts blessing. Allows them the option of gaining all the inheritance and being free too - as long as they can get the courts to condone such murder.

What have we fallen to? We use to have morals, dignity, respect for life but now we want to play God and the court given right to remove others who are costly or inconvenient from the living. What wonderful humans we produce nowadays.

And, can you imagine what kind of people we will have in 50 years as we progress along killing all the weaklings, the costly, the inconvenient? What a wonderful life we have then as long as the remaining ones are not weak, costly or inconvenient to those surrounding them. If they become one of the weaker ones - they will be done away with as, of course, those would not wish to live anyway.

Yes, I would pray that someone would help me if I ever found myself in Terri's situation... I'd pray that they'd put a pillow over my face.

"Look, of course we care for our young and I am not calling for a death march........
but, at some time it must behoove us to cease "extra-ordinary" measures."

Mr. Schiavo,
I would like to know exactly how the hell giving a handicapped person FOOD AND WATER is to be considered "extra ordinary" measures. The last time I checked food was essential for everyone to stay alive. What about you, are you being kept alive with the medical miracle of food also?

So ambrose - you resent paying money to allow someone to live? Do you resent welfare to allow people to buy food? Do you resent paying for the military to eat?

Or is it possible that you wish to have the right to kill? That way when one's spouse becomes unable to speak for themselves, one can freely decide that they need to go on and allow us productive ones to keep all our money.

How very gross to consider the cost when it is not your family lying there.

One must remember that we are men - not God. God would not take kindly to us assuming His power and determining when others leave this world. I would not want to face God knowing that I -I - I decided to send one of his souls to Him.

It's called a Gastronomy Tube, and if the MEDIA used the name, it would be technically incorrect to then refer to it as LIFE SUPPORT.

See, FEEDING TUBE is more ambiguous and open to interpretation by those with little medical knowledge.

Let's get down to brass tacks.........

you want Terri to stay alive long enough to point the finger at hubby.

We all know he did it.

I'm sure we all fear that someday we will be alone and unable to take care of ourselves. However, that still does not give man the right to play God.

If we lie there in our houses and starve to death - we lie there in our houses and starve to death. At least that would be better than a beheading, a tortured death. And, I am sure God will be with us to see us through it.

Yet, I fear the same thing you do.

You don't mind FELOS stole over $14 million in MEDICARE money from you?

But you are griping about Terri's Medicaid expenses, which we WOULD NOT BE PAYING IF MICHAEL had not gotten a court order stating she was PVS.

Michael spent the MONEY that MEDICAID is now covering on LAWYERS FEES.

GO ask him for your money back.

Sorry, I don't go for the left-wing welfare state guilt trip routine.

You want to help other people "in need"? Great. YOU pay.

She hasn't had any therapy since '92. I read that her right hand will probably always be clenched because of the lack of therapy and removal of her brace. She can and does move but after this long, who knows if there can be much progress.
