I worked for five years at a retarded institution, way back..believe me, there are a lot of docs who would think nothing of starving her...heck, three years ago, one of our patients went to a neurologist and he spent the whole time telling her family to starve her...she was not "vegetative" but merely spastic with frontal lobe damage...could recognize the family, understand etc...
The family was native American, and too polite to say yes or no ...then finally one spoke up, and told him: Yup that's the difference between you white people and us Indians. We don't kill our elders"...and the family walked out. But they got mad at me for sending them for a "second opinion"...(i.e. about if the newer seizure medicines would be a better choice--a question that I never did get an answer to)....
