Gee, this only sounds a tad ILLEGAL. For the heck of it, I'd file an EEOC complaint PDQ. If everything she says turns out to be true, which I highly doubt, Playgirl had every right to fire her. The have every right to fire her because they don't like her shoes, her employment is entirely at their will, as it should be. Political affiliation is not a protected class, and I'm glad about that.

If you truly believe that and you are an employer I dare you to fire the first member of your staff you can find who's a Democrat. Do it, then get back to us on how that goes.

I don't think that's correct. Not these days anyway. Once one is hired its pretty tough to 'legally' fire someone. And I'm fairly sure you have to show cause for dismissal like; theft, incompetence, financial downsizing, etc. But voting isn't one of them. The EEOC kind of frowns on that sort of stuff. And if you'll recall the EEOC even made Hooters hire men waiters. If the EEOC can do that they can do almost anything regarding 'employees rights'.
Bottom line is that 'your business' isn't any longer yours.

Political affiliation is not a protected class, and I'm glad about that.It may not be a protected class, but employees can still sue over hiring/firing based on political idealogy.
My company's insurance firm offers a rider for just that instance. Pretty scary.
