I saw a threat to the republic when Conservatives threw out conservative principles for this issue - out went state's rights, separation of powers, the sanctity of marriage (remember that conservatives? What do you think it means to give away a daughter in marriage?), but the last straw was when Freepers polling over 70% saying they want the president, congress and gov. Bush to violate their oaths of office and go beyond their constitutional powers/limits and do everything possible to save Terri. That scared me. These are conservatives? This is what the movement has devolved into? GOD SAVE THE REPUBLIC!!

PS: I won't mention the sheer hypocrisy of Bush who signed a law in Texas that makes a mockery of all his posturing on this case. Sorry to sund so harsh.

Meantime, public opinion of Congress is hovering at or near Jimmy Carter lows.

The same 80% of FReepers wanted the Federal government/courts OUT of the Alabama 10 commandment case. (I'm way too lazy to go look up those threads)

These are conservatives?

No. They are a mix of well-meaning, but misguided Christians, ultra-hard Right extremists, and demagogic con artists whipping up a frenzy and spreading lies for their own financial gain.
