Greer called the Bush bluff and won...the Bush brothers showed what their spine is made off...and the natiopn is worse off than if they had done nothing.

You know, I am beginning to agree with that statement. Both gave hope to the parents that they would save their daughter from a state mandated execution, and both failed miserably........

Why do you think they would do an autopsy? I think someone will just sign a death cert with the famous PVS.

Can't the State AG file an injunction to take possession of the body for autopsy??"""

I would imagine that would be possible, but why would state officials want to do an investigation that, if it turned up something, would make them look really bad for allowing Terri to be killed? No, everybody from Jeb on down has a big vested interest in this whole evil episode being forgotten as fast as possible. There will not be any investigations that could keep it in the public consciousness, or that could embarrass Jeb if they were to turn up a conspiracy behind the killing of the woman he failed to save.

The MORON can't use the words "effected" and "affected" correctly.

See first line, first paragraph.

Judge Greer. The polls. The media. Maybe his shadow.

I sure hope not. I can't see it just fading into oblivion. I hope people's memories are longer than that. That will mean that Terri died in vain.

I think thats it for me tonite. I'll check back tomorrow. Happy Easter everyone.

My main reason for being against killing her had to do with the unanswered questions of abuse. They should have been thoroughly investigated before death by starvation was even considered.

I heard Gov. Bush respond to a reporter's question, do you have the authority to act? He stated that such a question is better answered by an expert. Thus he asked a state official to answer the question.

I believe that that official and her answer were the same as quoted in this article. I know that the official answered, yes the governor has the authority.

To wit, “The law allows the department to exercise both emergency protective services -- intervention -- and emergency removal. Either one or both”, DCF attorney Jennifer Lima-Smith told Greer.

The article goes on, "DCF is empowered by Chapter 415 of Florida Statutes to enact emergency protective services intervention . . ."

The issue is NOT following the law the issue is WHAT IS THE LAW vis-s-vis checks and balances and responsibilities of the executive branch..

Let's have the "constitutional crisis" already. Let's get it over with.

Too late to save Terri Schiavo's life but in time to prevent her husband, et al. from destroying the evidence; i.e., an immediate cremation.

Stop with the BS that some judge just one notch above small claims court is the law.

"America is stronger for what the Bushes have done" by allowing a county judge to order an innocent disabled woman starved to death.

You just keep on believing that. The sad thing is, this may mark a real turning point for the Democrats--the moment when the base of the Republican party realized that the GOP is not interested in fighting for pro-life issues. Our base is currently demoralized, cynical, and angry.

If the GOP does nothing in the Senate over the next year, I expect the Party of Death to make significant gains in 2006.

I was remembering this afternoon that I have had an experince with those people in Pinellas. I have a niece that lives in Clearwater and I got a call one day from my sister in Mo asking what I thought about what was going on with the niece. She had been confined to a county mental health facility for a month after her husband complined about a domestic dispute. I called and talked to her and, with her permission, to the head nurse. They were holding her with no diagnosis of mental illness. I said to her that the place must be empty as here they run people through county mental health in three days, usually. She agreed the place was nearly empty.
So I got on the phone and found some state advocate and she got her sprung. A child custody suit ensued with horrendous stories of overreaching family court. Another example of too much government imho.

There you go. That's what Florida worries about: tourist dollars. I think they have been trying to keep this hushed up. I read that the Catholic bishop ordered priest to stop preaching about this a while back. If you want to get a reality check, look at the websites of the city and county. Not a hint of Terri Shiavo. But they are trying to pass an ordinance against parking vehicles on lawns.

Yes, this should really put a crimp on home sales in that part of Florida. Who would want to retire there? end up in that hospice surrounded by police?

I would like to think that if I had been Jeb that I would have forgone my future politcal goals and would have gone ahead and done what is right. Gone in with the calvary, standing right there with them, gotten Terri, had modern and accurate tests done on her to determine whether she was POV or not, and let the damn moronic judge go to hell. Then afterwards paid the price of doing what was the right thing to do and that was protecting those that cannot protect themselves.

I always said that it didn't take that much courage to stand up to Saddam Hussein - he's everybody's idea of a villain,

Not yours. You were pro-Saddam and I invite anyone to search on your previous posts to verify it for themselves.

You're a liar - or stupid. Yes, I opposed the invasion of Iraq. But I said Saddam was a villain. I also think Castro is a villain - but I don't favor invading Cuba. Apparently you aren't bright enough to understand that not favoring the invasion of some country is not the same things as being "pro" the ruler of that country. Otherwise, you must be pro-Red-China, because I've never seen you call for invading China.

One thing I admit I always said - that, whatever one's opinion of the invasionn of Iraq, it didn't require that much "courage," because we all knew what a bastard Saddam was. In contrast, it WOULD take courage to stare down Judge Greer - - and neither of the Bushes is showing that they have that courage
