Fearless predcition..Kennerdy and Kerry will use the rising water levels in Boston Harbor as the rational for halting the wind turbine project off Nantucket..

"Over the last hundred years, the sea level in Boston has risen one foot due to global warming, which expands the volume of the ocean and melts ice which land has been resting on..."

WTF is this guy talking about? The sea level has risen because global warming is expanding the volume of the ocean? How does it do that?

Global warming melts ice that the land is resting on? Where is this, the tundra? Or maybe Boston has been resting on an ice field and is now sinking because the ice is melting? In which case, the ocean level isn't rising, the land is sinking.

I can't make any sense out of this hypothesis, can you?

Over the last hundred years, the sea level in Boston has risen one foot due to global warming, which expands the volume of the ocean and melts ice which land has been resting on, Kirshen said. Based on the CLIMB project projections, over the next fifty years the sea level in Boston will rise at least another foot.

B.S. The sea level in Boston has risen one foot because the land has subsided.

one foot already and another foot to come.....but the ocean is only rising in Boston

This localized effect can only be caused by some freakish gravitation pull from large body masses in the area. It is likely Ted Kennedy or Helen Thomas could be behind this.

Boring prophet:
There shall, in that time, be rumors of things going astray, erm, and there shall be a great confusion as to where things really are, and nobody will really know where lieth those little things with the sort of raffia-work base, that has an attachment. At that time, a friend shall lose his friend's hammer, and the young shall not know where lieth the things possessed by their fathers that their fathers put there only just the night before, about eight O'clock.

...global warming, which expands the volume of the ocean...

A change of one degree will raise the ocean level about an inch.

I'm glad this is localized. It would be terrible to have ocean levels rise one foot everywhere, but as long as the ocean is changing just within metropolitan Boston, I guess it's no big deal.

LOL!

Did this "scientist" test to see if the "rising water" since 1900 is actually the result of reduced air pressure in Boston?

Too bad...

He might have become famous for PROVING that "Boston sucks".

Not only "may not", but "have not". There is no evidence of ocean levels rising one inch on a global scale. Maybe Boston is sinking.

OK, so in the past 100 years the automobile - which was created during that period and took a while to catch on - has been responsible for this?

But if we stop using it entirely now it's too late to change anything?

What's wrong with this picture. Either the climate's response to our activity is nearly instantaneous or it is not. Which is it?

Shalom.

By the year 2100, if no changes are made, an extreme storm could overflow the Charles River Dam and flood all of the Back Bay area. By that time, with no changes to flood proofing or sea walls, an estimated $20 billion dollars worth of damage would have been caused if the sea level rose at the moderate estimate of 0.6 meters.

Only 95 years to augment floodproofing or sea walls. With local union practices, it's not enough time! Man the lifeboats!

Teddy Kennedy will not have to drive so far any more to park his car in the drink.

When is a car not a car? When it is a Black Submarine, of course.
