IN several stories of the Arabian Nights, the caliph is left with egg on his face thanks to remarks by the court jester. It was, perhaps, in this spirit that Col. Moammar Khadafy, Libya's maverick ruler, played court jester during last week's Arab Summit. At the closing session of the gathering in Algiers, Khadafy, in his favorite dramatic posture, unleashed one of his trademark lectures on a stunned assembly.

Khadafy's comment on a single Arab-Jewish state to replace Israel is not good. It means he still has a strong anti-Israel bent.
Khadafy's such a strange person. Reagan's bombing of his headquarters had an amazing effect on him. He was once a proto-bin Laden, himself.

What other head of state would assume the relatively low rank of Colonel when he could pick something like, say....
"General Pain in the World's A$$"?
You gotta admit, life can't be easy for a guy whose name is spelled differently each week. There's Muamar Qaddhafi, Muammar Gaddafi, Qadhafi, Khadafy...ad infinitum.:)
