To: Wampus SC

oh I remember that one too Wampus. We certainly have got away from the traditional Hymns. Very few churches use them now. And for the ones that do, they are filled with old people, my age!!. I miss them, and yes I relate to "feeling" every single word!!

The Baptists always had more Spiritual type hyms than the Lutherans. I always went to Awanas every Monday night and sang many Baptists hymsn, although I wasn't Baptist I loved thier youth group AWANAS.

Always have had a high regard for baptists. Could never be one though, love to dance!

IMO the the traditional hymns are both more worshipful and thought provoking. The music itself had a rousing quality that is hard to explain to anyone who has never heard them. I'm sitting here thumbing thru an old 1940 Broadman Hymnal - it's amazing.

BTW - remember shaped notes? :)
