Bingo. My son used to do some building, and that was exactly the group that did that sort of thing. {He didn't know their legal status, but he knew their country of origin.}

I appreciate your story, but whether it is $125,000 or $400,000, people should not be treating other people's property in such a manner. I am just disgusted to hear all these horror stories. I will be building my "dream house" in a few years and I'd like to avoid these problems. Maybe I will live onsite, with a sniper rifle, trained on the contractor :-)

What is it that say about sausage? If you want to continue enjoying it, don't ask how it is made?...

***Is urinating in houses common in Mexico?***

No, they use the wood pile. When they cook with this wood it gives the house a certain "ambiance".

I have often smelled this when visiting people in my youth and wondering what the "old" smell was. Then I found out what it was.

Very common. Once the bathtub is installed, that's where they typically go.

**My wife encourages me to do just that...she hates it when I'm out whizzing under the grapefruit tree.**

Mine hates it when I "go" off the porch. In dry weather it does get rank and I find I can't blame it on the dogs anymore.

First generation Mexicans don't flush paper - they keep a container in the bathroom where the used stuff gets tossed. They guess it's something to do with Mexico's rudimentary septic or sewer system.

Several years ago, we lived in an apartment building with a Mexican maintenance man. Our toilet backed up several times and we had to have him come fix it. After about the third time, he told my boyfriend that we should throw toilet paper in the garbage instead of flushing. My boyfriend was like, "Oh, HELL no! You fix that toilet!" We moved as soon as the lease was up - who knows how many people there were keeping baskets of used toilet paper in their bathrooms!

[[Shudder.]]

**....when I was in constuction back in the 70's we use to find as secret a spot outside to relieve ourselves.....never inside....**

We built a temporary outhouse in the back yard. Later we used a "sani-can". They worked just fine.

I have worked in construction for almost 30 years in Vegas and while people do urinate in the homes it is not that common.

Almost everyone does not want to work in a place that has been pissed in and we get real upset when we catch someone pissing in homes or on material.

The mexicans do not give a dam. I guess they are use to it. They have no regard for other trades materials. That is one of my biggest complaints with them besides not being able to communicate. OSHA will not allow people on a roof without a tie down but they will allow you to work side by side with someone who doesnt understand a thing you say. But when we catch them pissing in anything other then the mexican space shuttle we throw rocks and make sure they know not to do it. If you are caught pissing in a house you are off the job.

Almost all home builders take a little pride in their work and do not condone urinating in the houses.

"If the home-buying public only knew what was going on in their homes as they were being built..."

I find frequently find crack pipes made from soda cans on site.

Modifying the topic a bit, I was in a large tract neighborhood being built a couple of weeks ago that had a bizarre, out of place atmosphere that I could not figure out.

On my way out of there I noticed a group of sub contractors hanging around a truck and that's when it hit me: There were no Mexican work crews on the site. Every one of them were local country boys. I haven't seen that in years.

the same thing happened to a friend of mine in Texas, they found the feces in their attic-crawl space. It's too disgusting to think about. What's wrong with people??

Yes, that's what they say, but obvious damage from urine is a little much to ask for a buyer to put up with. This is one of those times where an all-female construction crew might be an asset.

. . . you are not the first person to set their sweaty big arse down right where yours is.

When I want to be the first to use a toilet I go to the plumbing department at Menard's.
