It's very hard to believe the Holy Father is gone. He was the only Pope I knew, and his legacy will be remembered in my heart for the rest of my life. My prayers are for the church and I also pray that John Paul II rests in heaven with Jesus Christ.

In Prayer,

CSG

Thanks for that great picture.

May these two warriors enjoy a well earned rest.

You are so right.

It is our loss. John Paul has gone to his well deserved rest in heaven.

I doubt there will be another like him.

That is too bad. I opined early on today that Chris Matthews would probably be OK covering this and then shortly after I heard him work in the word

Chris Matthews is a liberal Cafeteria Catholic .. and his views do not surprise me

But of all days .. the day the Pope passed away .. Matthews should have imo showed more respect and put a sock in it

Did you hear Hissy Matthews say that Reagan was more Liberal compared to Pope John Paul II? His comments were outrageous if they weren't over the top.

The thing that is bothering me the most about Fox News' coverage is when they run their mini-biography about the Pope, and they mention the "departure" he made in his relationship with Jews, contrary to the "old position" of the Church that stated that Jews "deserved to suffer for killing Jesus." The Church NEVER taught that, though some Catholics advocated it and did it, unfortunately.

Matthews has the right to his opinion .. but today was not the time nor place to talk the way he did

He should have showed more respect

We need to get Zell Miller in Chrissie's face and challenge him to that duel

EWTN ran a documentary that said JPII hand delivered a note of apology for the suffering the Jews have endured. He should understand where the Jewish people are coming from. Twenty-five percent of his schoolmates were Jewish. I also heard that JPII was arrested by Nazi soldiers, and let go when they found a workers card on his possession.

The Church NEVER taught that,

You are correct ..

I was taught that we are all God's children

But I think FNC was trying to point out how that JPII reached out to all people of the world

If you get EWTN on your cable or satellite system, they're replaying the prayer service held earlier today in St. Peters Square. I missed it as I had a funeral to attend to today, so I am watching it right now.

If you ver get a chance to read his book, you'll understand more about his childhood and what happened

This day is quite an experience for me. JPII is the only Pope I've known since I was 8 years old.

So the Holy Father has reached the end of his pilgrimage.

All the talk about him quiting can finally cease. He was faithful and devoted to the end. In the final analysis, his suffering witness in the last years and months of his ministry was just as powerful, if not more powerful, than the witness he gave to Christ as a healthy and vigorous middle-aged Pope.

The armchair critics and skeptics were proved wrong, once again. The final, painful steps on his journey were more poignant and powerful than the "quit now" crowd could ever understand or ever will. The words of St. Paul about God's power being shown through human weakness were once more on display.

His Calvary is over. The glory of the resurrection awaits.
