my three year old's classroom has a bathroom opening off the side and that door is never closed - to prevent abuse or allegations thereof. Standard procedure in other schools I have seen also.

What you mentioned reminded me when I was in a bowling alley daycare. My mom along with many other women would bowl and us kids would be in the daycare. I remembered they had a bucket especially for us boys to pee into. The girls, had to use the sitdown potty. I barely remember seeing a lot of the girls using it but the "teachers" made no effort what I remember to protect their privacy. This was back in 1973 or 1974 - before I went into Kindergarten. At that age, you don't care but you do when you get into 1st or 2nd grade. My six year old is getting to the point of wanting privacy.
