I'm convinced AQ is recruiting blue-eyed Bosnians. Since they don't look Arabic, they won't raise nearly as much suspicion. I predict the next big terrorist act will be done by Bosnians for precisely that reason.
I've been saying that since right after 9/11. It's the reason "profiling" Muslim-looking people is actually counterproductive. The same issue applies with Indonesians, Africans, half-Russian Afghans, and even some Iranians.

You are correct. I apologize. Fox is a serious news organization.

FNC is far from perfect (one case in point: Geraldo). Of course it's not strongly left-leaning, so amid rampant liberal bias on broadcast and cable, FNC seems "right wing." Well boo-hoo.

I like a news organization that has a better batting average than Mario Mendoza when it comes to breaking news.

The premature announcement on Fox of the Pope's death was appalling enough, but watching Shep Smith attempt to explain the rosary was an absolute farce.

This is sure to come:

I picture Rita Cosby holding a microphone over a tombstone and calling it "her sources".

I picture Geraldo reporting live from the Vatican and announcing his exact GPS coordinates for all who may be listening.

I picture Bill O'Reilly having an original thought.

I picture Shep Smith doing the weather.

If it was innocent, I bet that pilot was shaking in his seat (to put it politely) when the Italian jets were at his side.

I'm not sure what's more frightning - having mechanical problems with your jet out over the water, or having 2 crazy Italians flying their jets next to you! ! :)

Relatively speaking...FOX is ok- but certainly not great. The only great thing FOX has is Brit Hume- who I think is superior to anyone in broadcasting. Special Report is the only must see tv left...

Brit is a giant among men in the news industry. He's the rock of Gibraltar. There are some very good people at Fox, but aside from the eye-candy, the reporters and commentators and mostly tabloid.

I like Shep, but you're right- his premature announcement of the Pope's death was outrageous.

I don't care for Shep at all. IMHO He has no respect for authority or reverence for anything. I remember his snide comments about Bush just after the election. He made a couple about the Pope. I wish I would have written them down. Basically, he insults by inserting negative adjectives, or changing his inflection so that is sarcastic.

He is sneaky. I think he deplores the current Administration, but he plays his cards close to his vest for the sake of his career. Listen carefully to him, you will pick-up on it on occasion.

Now that's a woman who doesn't get pushed around. Did you see the "cat fight" when that crazy from The Apprentice (first show, that difficult woman - can't even remember her name now). Wow Linda stood her ground. Also, she challenges people who make statements that they cannot verify. Seems to be a straight-shooter to me.

So far, they've had no cause to claim that we are at war with Islam, so their Imams cannot issue a blanket call to Jihad in defense of the faith.

Don't see where yet another call for jihad would make much of a difference. We went way beyond double dog dare in Afghanistan. The marginal utility of the 1,036th fatwa is very very small. I suspect even folks in the middle east get bored with them.

Before I left for work this AM, we heard FNC announce that the president was enroute to Air Force One. My husband and I felt that that was more detail than we needed to know. I too was worried about the plum target the funeral represented. But the Italians have had more years to practice terrorist avoidance than we have.

For what it's worth, EWTN also announced the Pope's death prematurely. I believe the death story originated wit an Italian News agency and the AP but i'm not positive.

I think it was an Italian news agency (SkyItalia?), and the fact that there was an open mike during Fox's live coverage where a woman reporter's voice got picked up saying the Pope had died.
